NEW YORK - The National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA), the National Hockey League (NHL), and The Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation have produced a new public service announcement (PSA) in support of its joint partnership. The 30 second PSA, featuring Brooks, is currently appearing in all 30 NHL Member Club arenas and will continue to run throughout the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In the PSA, produced by Teammates for Kids, NHL Productions and the NHLPA, Brooks reminds fans that each goal and assist scored in the game by a participating NHL player is "money going to kids in need."

The Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundationis the official children's charity of the NHLPA and the NHL. Its Top Shelf Teammates program contributes financial resources to non-profit organizations that benefit children's health, education and inner-city services. As part of the Top Shelf Teammates program, NHL players contribute a predetermined sum based on selected on-ice performance categories such as goals scored or team wins. Every dollar contributed by players is tripled through an affiliation with other donors, with 100% of the donations distributed to children's charities. More than 200 professional hockey players have participated in the Top Shelf Teammates program since its inception in 1999.

In October, the NHL and NHLPA conducted a League-wide on-line auction of game- worn jerseys that raised $500,000. That amount was matched by The Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation and World Vision's Katrina relief efforts received the $1-million donation.
