NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country music singer Chris LeDoux is suffering from liver disease and needs a transplant.
LeDoux, 51, has been diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis, which blocks the bile ducts and leads to cirrhosis. The disease is marked by fatigue and yellowing of the eyes and skin.
Doctors say many patients with the condition survive only about two years without a transplant. The cause of the disease is not known.
Doctors tell LeDoux he can make a full recovery with a transplant, he said Tuesday. He has been added to organ donation lists.
LeDoux specializes in songs that celebrate the rodeo and cowboy subculture. He has sold more than 5 million albums, and been cited as an influence by country music star Garth Brooks.
