Chris LeDoux Making Speedy Recovery
Tuesday, August 22, 2000 2:23:00 PM
Chris LeDoux is making a speedy recovery after being hospitalized for treatment of a liver problem. Doctors predicted that it might take a week or longer for the effects of his medication to kick in, but the singer's wife said he was feeling much better within three days. He is currently at home continuing to rest and recuperate. Representatives for LeDoux have no information on when he plans to return to his touring schedule.
In other LeDoux news, he and pal Garth Brooks recently had a reunion in Oklahoma. Apparently, Brooks heard that LeDoux was scheduled to play a show near Tulsa, so he decided to try and catch up with him. He phoned LeDoux and invited him to go out for a bite to eat. The two jumped in Brooks's truck together and headed out for burgers before the show. Brooks dropped him back at the venue in time for sound check that evening. Brooks and his family recently relocated near Tulsa.

Brooks' museum plan over; neighbors' wishes prevail
Saturday, August 19, 2000 11:57:00 PM
In the 10 years since Garth has lived in the area, he has come to know and love the neighbors and -- because they don't want it -- won't try to proceed with a Graceland-type tourist attraction there.
"We belong to the community first," Brooks said. Speaking of his neighbors, he added: "They didn't move in on us. We moved in there. They're like family to us. If they say, 'We'd rather not,' that's enough for me."
Also, the more he learned about such an operation, the less appealing it became.

Neighbors negative on Brooks' tourist proposal for home
Thursday, August 17, 2000 9:23:00 AM
Garth Brooks' neighbors sang out loud and clear last night that they do not want a Graceland-like attraction in their midst.
More than 100 neighbors crowded into Trinity Free Will Baptist Church on Old Dickerson Road -- about a mile from the country superstar's and their own homes -- and found nothing to like about the proposal that Brooks' representatives presented, said Councilwoman Bettye Balthrop.
"I don't know of a single person in there that was for it," said Balthrop, who represents the area.
Brooks museum in offing -- Not all of Garth's neighbors in tune with idea
Tuesday, August 15, 2000 12:07:00 AM
Garth Brooks wants to turn his Goodlettsville home into a Graceland-like museum. The country music superstar and his wife, Sandy, want to open to the public the Genelle Drive home they call the "Blue Rose Estate," possibly by year's end, though their attorney stressed that plans are still "preliminary."
The attorney, Robert Langford, described the project as an "opportunity for folks to view the home and the barn and see the personal effects of Garth and Sandy and kind of capture in time their home life as it was during this wonderful 10 years that they've lived on that property."
Garth Brooks Wants to Make His Nashville Home a Museum
Monday, August 14, 2000 11:09:00 PM
Depending on how his neighbors feel about it, Garth Brooks would like to open up his Nashville home as a museum for his fans, attorneys for the semiretired country music star said on Monday.
The outcome of a private meeting scheduled for Wednesday will dictate whether Brooks cancels plans to create the museum, which will be devoted to his life and career.
"Getting the support of his neighbors is absolutely essential," Brooks' attorney, Chris Maddox, said. "Garth will not go ahead with this unless they approve." The singer and his wife, Sandy, want to open to the public their 20-acre estate, Blue Rose, which they bought 10 years ago for $435,000 and is now valued at an estimated $1.1 million.
Garth's Private and Personal Thanks
Monday, August 14, 2000 10:35:00 PM
Music Row reports that Garth Brooks slipped back into Nashville quietly last month to take care of some personal business with all the folks who had been involved in his career during the last 10 years. During the reunion at Soundcheck, Brooks paid tribute to each individual guest and told an anecdote about them. Then he gave them each a personal memento, a SuperBowl-style ring engraved (GB Artist of the Decade) with the person's name and the number of years they had served.
