Capitol Nashville to cease production of Garths' first six albums
Sunday, April 05, 1998. Press Release

It may seem a bit drastic but it is true. Capitol Records Nashville will cease manufacturing the first six Garth albums. That means that if you haven't bought Garth Brooks (1989), No Fences (1990), Ropin' In The Wind (1991), The Chase (1992), In Pieces (1993) and Fresh Horses (1995) you won't be able to get them as individual albums for some time.

The purpose of this exercise is Garth will release a special six-CD, 66-cut boxed set on May 5. The boxed set will contain cuts from all of his albums plus some cuts that never made it on any album.

Capitol says that it will only press 2-million units and that it will be treated as a limited edition collectors item. The box set will retail in the $50 range.

After the box set is sold out, Capitol will begin to re-release the original first six albums on their 10th anniversary date. That means Garth Brooks, the first album will be re-released in 1999 and so on.
