Garth Brooks to Host Saturday Night Live
Wednesday, February 04, 1998. Press Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Feb. 4, 1998-- On Feb. 28, Capitol recording artist Garth Brooks will become the fourth musical entertainer to both host and perform on NBC's long-running ``Saturday Night Live.'' The three previous entertainers who have served double duty at ``SNL'' are Paul Simon, Sting and Dolly Parton.

In addition to hosting the classic comedy program, Brooks will perform two songs from his current album SEVENS, which has been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) at over 5 million albums sold. SEVENS already contains two No. 1 hits (``In Another's Eyes'' -- the duet with Trisha Yearwood, and ``Longneck Bottle'') as well as his current top-ten single, ``She's Gonna Make It.''

In other Garth & NBC news:

On Wednesday, March 4, NBC will air ``Garth Brooks: Ireland & Back.'' This two-hour special will consist of two parts. The first 90 minutes will focus on Brooks in concert at the Croke Park stadium in Dublin, Ireland. This footage was shot over three sold-out concerts in May 1997. The final 30 minutes will feature Brooks performing new songs from his current album SEVENS. Contemporary Christian artist Susan Ashton, singer/songwriter Steve Wariner and Trisha Yearwood (the reigning Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year) all make guest appearances during the special.
