Trisha Yearwood Chart Success Previews New Album Release
Monday, August 25, 1997. MCA Nashville Company Press Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 25-- MCA Records/Nashville recording artist Trisha Yearwood's duet with Garth Brooks, ``In Another's Eyes,'' was the highest debuting single on the Radio & Records country charts this week at #24 with a designated ``Breaker'' status. The ballad is the second single off of her album ``Songbook: A Collection of Hits'' releasing to retail Tuesday, August 26. The artists have also completed a video for the song which will begin airing nationally in coordination with the album release. In addition, an appearance by both on the Tonight Show is slated for September 11.
The single follows the success of ``How Do I Live,'' the albums' initial release which attained #1 status on both the Gavin and Radio & Records charts. Written by Dianne Warren, the song was also featured in the Touchstone Motion Picture, ``Con Air.'' A third previously unreleased single, ``Perfect Love,'' also appears on the collection.
With the release of ``Songbook: A Collection of Hits,'' Yearwood showcases the vocal talent which initially floored country listeners in 1991. Beginning with her self-titled MCA debut, through her consequent releases ``Hearts In Armor,'' ``The Song Remembers When,'' ``The Sweetest Gift,'' ``Thinkin' About You'' and ``Everybody Knows,'' Yearwood has been regarded as one of country music's interpretive masters. While the focus of her success could be summed up by album sales (over 8 million), Grammy and Country Music Association awards (including nominations for this year's CMA Female Vocalist and Album of the Year awards) or movie and television credits, it is upon listening to the music one realizes that these accolades pale in comparison to Yearwood's true winning characteristic: the passion which so richly permeates her every note.
