NASHVILLE, Tenn. --Oct. 13, 2000-- The seventh unique package for Garth Brooks Double Live, the 1998 2-CD set containing 25 live recordings by Brooks, will be available in stores on Tuesday, October 24.

Garth Brooks Double Live, which at the time of its release set a record for first-week sales (selling over 1.08 million copies), has been certified by the RIAA for sales of 13 million. This represents sales of over 6.5 million copies of the 2-CD set.

The Billboard Article: Garth Shares Insights About Professional, Private Future
Saturday, October 07, 2000 9:10:00 PM
On Oct. 26 Capitol Records will throw a party for Garth Brooks to commemorate the superstar selling 100 million albums -- a milestone unmatched by any other solo artist in history.

While it should be a cause for celebration, the party comes at a time when Brooks is going through life-altering transitions.

When he left the public eye last December, he did so by dropping a bombshell, telling the audience of TNN's "Crook & Chase" that he planned to take the year off and come back at the end of 2000 "to probably announce our retirement." The year, said Brooks, would be spent with his three young daughters, as well as working on his marriage to college sweetheart Sandy.

As the year heads to a close, Brooks says he will now delay his decision about retirement until he sees the outcome of the proposed merger between Capitol Records' parent EMI and Warner Music Group. However, his comments indicate that he's mulling over making one more studio album, even if he decides to retire.

Sadly, on the personal front, he says that "Sandy and I both agree that we need to get divorced" and that his time is now devoted to taking care of his children.

Garth Wishing To Make New Album?
Monday, September 18, 2000 7:02:00 PM
Garth Brooks will not release a new album this year says Capitol-Nashville President, Mike Dungan. If Brooks makes a new album Dungan told us, "It won't be this year, I can tell you that. He's not working on anything and has no immediate plans to work on anything." Disappointing news for Brooks fans "jonesing" for a new CD from him, but Dungan offered this hopeful comment. "I can't guarantee what Garth will do or when," he disclaimed. "But, every time we talk about the possibility of another record, he gets this glint in his eye as so many creative people do and I just have a feeling, just based on the way he looks at me when I bring it up, he won't be out of the game too long. I think he'll probably come roaring in with the best record he's ever had." What kind of record will it be? Dungan added, "I know from my recent conversations with him, if he does anything he wants it to be a real good country record."
