I still think it's unlikely but I agree it would be nice. there's a lot of stuff in the first part (haven't seen 2nd yet) from the song Ty and Garth were singing, to the merle haggard song, Garth's songs, you name it..

I loved that they used the hungry years recordings! (have listened ot them enough to recognize the tunes..). ..

Excellent excellent biography... and(for me) it's only 1/2 over!

My wife is pretty intuitive. She watched it all and called BS on how Sandy, the girls, and Trisha portrayed their relationships and interactions and thinks Sandy was not near as good with how she and Garth ended as she seems to be. Sandy was too at peace with things and trying to freak your stepmother out with spiders is just a symptom of what they were really feeling. I bet Trisha was ready to get out of there as soon as he was ready to hit the road again. He did say it was her that encouraged him to tour again, even though we know he was already saying he would be coming back before his retirement and when the Ultimate Hits was released.

Did any women on here get the same feeling about Sandy and the girls?

Just finished the 2nd part.. I'm sitting here thinking- how can I talk about it- what can I say about the show...

    Yeah..

you know? I may change my thoughts and will have more to say I'm sure after reading more reviews and comments... but watching the 2nd part.. Think I can sum it up best by quoting the story Garth too about the concessions girl..

"Now you have to tell them goodbye"...

and she said "I don't want to"...

    "that's what it's like"...

    -----------------

Explaining what the show has re-awoken in me...... trying to explain to someone WHY I love Garth's music the way I do... Why I feel so Connected... trying to explain it.

    to paraphrase..

"that's what my fandom for Garth is like... Now you have to say goodbye (and go back to the day to day stuff, to listening to other music, to connecting to other areas"...

    I don't want to.....

As a male I can't speak on your question, but I think it's pretty much safe for me to compare Garth to Ray Romano at this point. Everytime I watch Ray do interviews on Late Night Shows or sometimes watch him do Stand-Up, he comes off as neurotic and not very confident. That's the same vibe I got with Garth, one would think after Kansas City, Staples Center, Nashville, and the Wynn Casino that someone would have that much confidence in his fanbase.

I will agree with your wife on one thing though, the spiders in the freezer, that's 100% a douchebag move and I was pretty much pissed when I heard that story. Don't get me wrong, she was obviously dealing with some adjustment issues (from what Allie said on IG she went through a Goth stage for a few years) but there were much better ways to handle it.

. I'm beginning to wonder something similar- is this lack of confidence genuine? The vibe I get is that it is genuine- largely.. he should have more confidence in himself (his fanbase has confidence in him)

. Honestly? I took the story with a humorous tone... It's kinda one of those things you look back on when you're grown and laugh at, seeing as how off you were to do that...

let's look at it though- Taylor was born in 1992.. her dad divorced when she was 8... she got a 'new mom' when she was 13... (and there was prob. contact prior with dates etc.. with Garth and TY)..

the 12-15 or so timeframe? that age is kinda critical for young girls (basing this on not only my own daughters' growing up but also seeing the young students I teach daily)... you put a young girl in an already potentially fragile state w/ emotions/hormones/trying to blossom on her own... And you put a divorce into the mix, and then on top of that a new mom... there is going to be friction there.. Honestly, acting out like she did / the spiders thing... doesn't surprise me at all (certainly not to an anger level.. humorous actually to me). she probably wanted her parents back together as a young teen.. surprised she didn't do more (maybe she did we haven't heard about it.. or others did...)

I think sandy was being real. She has no reason to play nice, her daughters are raised and i think if it was not great she would not have said she loves her. Garth said he told sandy about proposing to Trisha and she told him it was a good move for him. I think they grew apart got divorced and seems like they are friends now. Both seem happy with where they are at. I was really impressed with sandy.
As far as Taylor putting spiders in the freezer. Think about it she had no dad growing up because he was on the road, he quits to be with the kids and when she finally has dads attention here comes Trisha. I can see where she would feel this as a threat.

I was too.. I think they've adjusted and think of it- TY and Garth have been married for 14 years.. They've been divorced for almost 20... they were married for less time than they've been divorced- I think real, adjusted, and truthful would be what would best describe her in the documentary

EXACTLY... couple the lack of attention w/ the age, it's a recipe for rebellion

I gotta tell you this biography has reminded me how much I love garth Brooks and why. I know I criticize him a lot but that man came into a 13 year olds life at a time when my parents were divorced and life was not so good. His songs have been the soundtrack of my life. His songs have been there when I married my wife, had my kids and buried my father. He has been everything to me and his oh shucks be a gentleman rubbed off on a kid that could have went the other way. So thank you garth for everything.

Haven't seen it yet so I'm trying not to read too much here. But does anyone know if there is other Garth stuff on besides The Road I'm On? I have seen ads here and there about "Garth Week" and there was some mention of showing a concert...but now looking at A&E's schedule I don't see anything but the documentary (which is on several times.)

I do remember other interviews Trisha did several years ago where she referred to being scared due to not knowing how to approach developing a relationship with the girls when she started dating Garth...and that confused me, because, given Garth and Trisha's long friendship and years of collaboration, I find it hard to believe the girls didn't know her until she and Garth officially became an item. In fact, I thought I remembered that in 1998, Sandy and the girls were on tour with Garth and Trisha? Or was that earlier? But I thought Sandy and the girls went on tour at some point? There were stories about the girls not liking Trisha at first but they were from sources I had doubts about (i.e., tabloids - and Country Weekly also uses partial quotes out of context.)

I know divorce is hard - even traumatic - for kids, but this situation was unusual because Garth quit touring around the time of the divorce, so he was more "there for" the girls after the divorce than before. And, in practical terms, Garth and Sandy had kind of been living apart.

I remember Garth saying when he and Trisha got engaged that Sandy was extremely nice and classy about it.
