I live in Nashville and am going to the entire run and I have to say last night's opening show was pretty epic! It was my 28th full show and I have to say there was something magical in the air. Obviously, Garth shows are always great, but there was just something a little extra going on last night. At one point Garth even stated that this was the best opening night of his career. During his speech at the end of "The Dance" he said something like this: I don't know if your life is like this, but I always find that whenever I really look forward to something I always end up disappointed. We have looked forward to this city for a very, very long time and I couldn't have imagined it would be like this. Again, that is a paraphrase, but you get the idea.

If this Nashville run holds to form, where the shows get a little better, longer and more high energy as the run progresses I can't imagine what it is going to be like by the end. Like I said, there was just something magical in the air. Encore was amazing too.

Great review. i'd love to hear how each is sounding different as the run of shows continues. I'll be there the last 2 shows of the tour.

That whole encore sounds awesome! Any of them whole songs or just parts like usual Housecleaning? This Ain't Tennessee was always one of my favorite songs.

Typical housecleaning. “To Make You Feel My Love” and “Amarillo By Morning” were full if memory is right. Jimmy played fiddle on “Amarillo”.

Have to say last night was good. Similar set list to above. With the encore he sang

    Which One of Them
    The Red Strokes
    The Change
To Make You Feel My Love (he brought Trisha out and had her sit on the stage and he sang it to her for their anniversary)
    Walkaway Joe
Fishing In The Dark (which was recorded for a live album)
    Standing Outside the Fire
    American Pie

I think there might be one or two I'm forgetting. But it was a good night even with crap seats. I'm looking forward to next weekend to do it all over again. In the meantime I'm doing some tourist things in Nashville which is a pretty cool city from what I've seen.

Working today so don’t have time for a big review. I will say last night had that same epic feel to it. Something magical on this Nashville run. Core setlist was the same except he dropped “Beaches” and added “If Tomorrow Never Comes” after “Unanswered Prayers”.
    Encore was (in this order):
    Which One of Them
    The Red Strokes
We Shall Be Free (full band)
Fishin’ in the Dark (full band)
    The Change (acapella)
To Make You Feel My Love
    Walkaway Joe
    Much Too Young (full band)
    SOTF (full band)
    American Pie

This is kinda cool... Ned Ledoux is going to be one of Garth's opening acts on Friday. Wish I could be there, his Sagebrush CD is fantastic.

Well night #3 was amazing! I have to say that I really do feel like the shows are "building" and getting slightly better each night. Not sure how that happens, but it really does feel that way. Basic setlist was pretty much the same as Sunday night with "Beaches of Cheyenne" getting added back in and he dropped "If Tomorrow Never Comes". They also added "Georgia Rain" with Karyn Rochelle getting a lead verse and Garth also singing background. Also Kelsea Ballerini sang with Trisha on "She's In Love With The Boy". Here is the setlist:

    12/15/2017
    1. Baby Let's Lay Dance and Dance
    2. Rodeo
    3. Two of a Kind
    4. Beaches of Cheyenne
    5. The River
    6. Two Pina Coladas
    7. Papa Loved Mama
    8. Ain't Goin' Down
    9. Unanswered Prayers
    10. That Summer
    11. Ask Me How I Know
    12. The Thunder Rolls
    13. In Another's Eyes
    14. X's and O's
    15. How Do I Live
    16. Wrong Side of Memphis
    17. Georgia Rain (w/Garth & Karyn Rochelle)
    18. She's In Love With The Boy (w/Kelsea Ballerini)
    19. Shameless
    20. Callin' Baton Rouge
    21. Friends In Low Places
    22. The Dance

    29. When You Come Back To Me Again
    30. Turn The Page (Bob Seger cover)
    31. Much Too Young
    32. Standing Outside the Fire

    23-27, 29-30 - solo acoustic
    28 - acoustic w/Jimmy on fiddle
    31-32 - full band

A couple of other interesting tidbits. Mitch Rossell played his solo set, but Karyn did not play due to Ned LeDoux playing in her spot. LeDoux sounded just like his dad. A little surprised "Good Ride Cowboy" didn't make the set because of him opening. I have seen a sign for it on all three nights and felt certain he'd play it last night.

I wonder if Karyn not playing her set led to "Georgia Rain" last night. She got featured during that song by getting to sing a lead verse and her and Garth singing background the rest of the way on the song. Karyn's 3 band members also played drums, guitar and bass on "Friends In Low Places".

Also was pretty surprised Good Ride Cowboy didn't get played either or that he didn't bring Ned out with him. Alabama Clay was my sign, third time this tour he played it. I would say it is building as well, was there last Sunday and last night had more energy.

Garth's voice was pretty crappy at the beginning of the show. It got better after his break, when Trisha was singing. I was really thinking he wouldn't do Shameless, because that is so hard on his voice. And I was SO HAPPY he did!!
It sure was a great night. I also really really enjoyed Mitch's performance. I went to him after the show (LONG LINE!) and he was also very friendly and took his time with everyone, he didn't seem to get tired.

And I for one am not sad that Karyn didn't get to play her set, since I am NOT a fan of her voice. She is a great songwriter, but she should let others sing her songs, IMO. The harmonies on Georgia Rain are great. I just don't like to hear her voice alone.
The sevens have aligned. It has begun...

I'm late on this, but Mitch's song 'Why I Call You Son' is the best song I've heard all year from any artist.

I will post reviews soon. Working today and some Christmas stuff with family, but the last 2 shows have hands down been the best Garth shows I’ve ever seen. Last night, night 5, was 39 songs and 2 hours and 50 minutes! Epic is an understatement!

    Awesome show!!

I haven’t seen a post about Saturdays show yet so not sure if this was any different but it was great.
    Setlist for Sunday

    GB 12/18 Nashville

    Mitch rossel
    Runaway June

    Baby let’s lay down
    Rodeo
    Two of a kind
    River
    2 pina coladas
    Papa
    Ain’t going down
    Unanswered prayers
    If tomorrow never comes
*then some acoustic that you usually hear in housecleaning*
    Don’t close your eyes
    3 wooden crosses
    Amarillo
    That summer
    Ask me how i know
    Thunder
    In another’s eyes
    X and o
    How do i live
    Wrong side of Memphis
Somewhere over the rainbow (sign request)
    She’s in love
    Shameless
*here during band introductions after he introduced Robert he shared that Robert sang Shout for the Animal House movie so....
    Robert Bailey - shout
*garth joined in at the end* the arena went wild
    Baton Rouge
    FILP
    Dance

    Encore:
    The cowboy song -full
    Learning to live again
    She’s every woman - full
Belleau wood ** my favorite - super happy to hear it
Bob segar - against the wind
*Trisha came out and he called a young lady to the front. They both started signing her sign but T told him he spelled her name wrong so of course they both sign guitar and give it to her*
    Walk away joe
    Whiskey to wine
    We shall be free
    Red strokes
    Friend to me
    Much too young
    More than memory
    SOTF

As previous post said it was nearly 3 hours. And it was epic!! Best I’ve seen on this tour.
Energy was electric. He mentioned the new live album once again during FILP. On a slide note - he looked great too. Seemed much more casual than usual. Or from the other shows I’ve been to. T-shirt with open black shirt over it and very faded Wranglers.
I so wish i could make the 6 hour drive back next wknd.
Even his dialogue between songs changed up a bit. 10
PS. Allie Colleen was on back up all night. And the 2nd opening act Runsway June was really good as well.

Now I'm def. hoping someone's been surreptitiously recording these.. some sound like they'd be epic to either hear or see again...

I agree the Saturday and Sunday shows were the best I have ever seen too! Garth was so happy and just didn't seem to want to stop. The audience last night was AMAZING! I heard songs that I had never heard live before. It all just came together and created MAGIC!

The crowd was great!! And i agree, he seemed super happy. I thought his voice might be strained after 5 shows in a week but he sounded great and and you’re right i think he would have kept going if possible. Best yet!!
Can’t wait to hear what he does next weekend.

Last night was the best concert ever. Garth was full of energy for three hours. I brought a sign and he tipped his guitar to me. I'm going to miss him when his tour ends. I'm not much of a fan of stadiums, they're just too big and I want to be as close as possible to him.

  22. #22
Wow!! I can’t believe the encores. My family and I are going to the final two shows. Hope the shows are electric like the first 5. Thanks for the reviews!

Went to all 7 and they were all amazing! I will say that I thought the shows on 16th and 17th were better than closing weekend. The 17th was 2 hours 50 minutes with 39 songs. Don’t know how it gets more epic than that.
