    Anthology charting

well, we know how they're marketing the anthology- as a book

just got an email from Garth (well the 'team garth' emails...)

Garth has the #1 BEST SELLING Non Fiction Book in America.. but not acc. to the NYT site

on Amazon.com it's listed as "#1 Best Seller" in Country and Folk Composer biographies......

EDIT: Garth is also #1 in Composer and Musician Biographies on Amazon
Also #1 in books on Music
#2 in Books under 'arts and photography'
    #11 in Books

    Incidentally:

The Limited Edition is #1, then the rest of hte top 10 are:

#2- Reckless daughter: A portrait of Joni Mitchell (hardcover)
#3- Never Look at the Empty Seats - Charlie Daniels (HC)
#4- The Garth Brooks Anthology (regular Edition)
    #5- Reckless Daughter (paperback)
#6- From This Moment On - Shania Twain (paperback)
#7- From This Moment On (Kindle edition)
#8- Walk to Beautiful- The power of love and a homeless kid who found the way (Jimmy Wayne) (Kindle)
#9- The Authorized Roy Orbison (hardcover)
#10 - The Life I live - One man's extraordinary, ordinary life and the woman who changed it forever - Rory Feek

SO.... Garth's "#1"... but in a very limited limited list

Two books in the top five!

You know, when it comes to book sales, NYT is the only list that really matters. Garth's marekting people should not
be sending out emails that say "The Number One Non Fiction Book in the USA"

    Thats simply not true.

Maybe number one at amazon for country singers.
Number one at amazon for country singers from OKC.
Number one at amazon for people married to Trisha Yearwood.

The Anthology is #14 on USA Today's Bestselller List.

It'll be interesting to see where it's ranking on other charts too- I'd put more stock in the USA today chart as it seem's to be more 'national' rather than the amazon chart. IMO..

    interesting though on all sides!

By that USA Today chart, Garth has the #3 bestselling nonfiction book behind Joe Biden and Ree Drummond.

That's nothing to wag a finger at, but it's not #1. I'd be interested to see what methodology they used to claim that, because I don't think they made it up. I think they embellished.

That said. Whatever. I bought it and like it. It doesn't really matter where it charts, IMO.

Well, as the quote goes... "Statistics can be made to prove anything - even the truth." (~ Author Unknown.).

Stats can be made to show anything- Garth absolutely had the #1 best selling non fiction book in America!!!! (If you are referring to Amazon.com's chart... Not surprising he would, as he's hitched himself to their machine)

I think they def. embellished.. but that would lead to a discussion- what chart if there is one, is objective and not biased?

I'm w/ you 7's. I bought it- I like it... char position really doesn't matter to me..

I couldnt care less if a album or book from Garth hits no1 or no957 on the charts. I admit it
must be nice for him so that is good.

BUT, I do care if his management is sending out BS "The number one non fiction book in the USA"

That is not playing with stats or being trickey with numbers, that is lying.

The only chart that matters is the New York Times. They're the soundscan of books. Not amazon's charts,
not walmart charts, not the LA Times, WP, USA Today, the new york times is the one people follow.

Again it shouldnt matter where the book ends up charting, heck a lot of my fav Garth songs are ones that didnt even become successful, hell my Fav Garth song of all time "We Bury the Hatchet"

Thats not my beef here, they shouldnt have released that statement. That's my same issue with the WORLD tour
    thing.

We have a saying here in NewZealand, whenever a Kiwi makes the news here, our media blows it out of
proportion, so the public says "Yeah, World Famous... In New Zealand"

Now Im gone off my main point, but NO Garth you dont have the number one book in the USA, that is
    a lie.

I think they could have worded it better, like Amazon's number 1 selling book, which it was, so it a way, it's their number one book. Which is what they should have said something...
Still, to be #1 on the world's biggest online retailer isn't anything to be ashamed of! Congrats to Garth! Job well done!

I just posted some information in this thread (http://www.planetgarth.com/forums/sh...ers-still-tops) about his position on the Billboard 200. So it looks like he is charting in both areas.

53,000 not counting the first three days of its release! Pretty good.

I think USA Today chart, the book moved up a notch to #13.

  14. #14
#2 behind Taylor Swift this week selling more than the first week at 57,376. So it stands at 110,000+ in two weeks not counting the first three days of release that has not been reported. I'd imagine they are pretty happy.
