Yes, that is what I thought too. Wait and see.

I agree. This is going to hit close to him considering how many friends he must have in Vegas and the performers at the festival. I canít imagine how the country music community is dealing with this right now.

Nothing will ever change. America Loves it's guns far too much. More blood on the hands of the NRA and all it's members. They'll send useless "thoughts & prayers."

Columbine didn't change things. Newtown didn't change things. The movie theatre shooting didn't change things. Neither will this, and neither will the Next mass shooting. People need their "precious."

Of course I'm not in any way justifying what this maniac in Vegas did, and this is in no way intended to be a political post, but I will share this experience.

My mom and dad were driving on the freeway late one night about 4 years ago when they noticed one of their tires was going flat. My dad took the next exit, pulled onto a side street and started to change the tire. About 5 minutes into it, a guy started walking toward my dad, pulled out a knife and started to demand that he give him his wallet and my mom's purse. My dad is a concealed weapons carrier, so he simply stood up, pulled out his pistol, showed it to the guy and said, "I don't think so." The guy immediately stopped advancing, took one look at the gun, and ran off. My dad called the police, who showed up and helped him fix the tire, and my mom and dad peacefully drove home.

Now I don't know what would have happened if my dad hadn't had his gun on him that night, but I do know that because he did have it, the situation ended peacefully.

20/20 did an interview of convicted felons of violent crimes. They were asked how would their access to guns be affected if they were outlawed. They overwhelmingly said nothing would change because they didn't go about the legal ways of getting their guns anyway.

The guns are already out there. The real issue is mentally ill and their access to guns, though that would still not have changed anything on some of the school shootings where the shooters just took their parents guns. But, if guns get banned, the innocent will become easy prey.

I don't hear anyone saying good people shouldn't be able to conceal carry. The conversation is about the legal sale of semi-automatic weapons and lack of universal background checks.

It's pointless to talk about. Guns take lives and guns save lives. There is not a right or wrong solution here, except to teach every kid at a very young age to respect everyone and life.

That's such a poor take. It's like saying people can break into houses so we don't need locks or security systems. We should just teach our kids not to do it.

Why not at least try some reform? What does it hurt? Why do people need these machine gun like things?

I would agree on the assault weapons. Other than the military and police departments, what is the need for them? You can't go hunting with them legally. But, there are already enough out there for the bad guys to get their hands on.
There is a city in Georgia that has a few low burglary rate because they have a city ordinance that says you must own a gun in your home if you live there. So the bad guys know they could actually die if someone is home.
I really do think it's about people killing people. Not guns killing people.

The thing is, I'm a reasonable person. I understand that some people value their 2nd Amendment right, and want to have a gun, or a couple of guns for protection.

But the U.S. love of guns.....and it is absolutely a love of guns, very few advanced countries have the daily bloodshed that we have. I don't want to hear garbage about knife terrorist attacks killing a couple of people in France. We have that on an hourly basis.

Perhaps criminals wouldn't be able to get their hands on guns, if there weren't so many guns. But that is not possible, thanks to the NRA and gun manufacturers lobbies. It's all about the mighty $$$$. This SOB had 10 guns with him, and they've found more at his homes. HOW MANY GUNS DO PEOPLE NEED?

The NRA supports More guns, not fewer. Perhaps if people were rational, and allowed some common sense protections, this would happen less frequently. But there is NO COMPROMISE for these people, and they accuse those of us who want rational laws and restrictions, of wanting to take all their guns, and their Precious 2nd Amendment.

I suppose the gun people have a point, the guns are not to blame here. They did Exactly what they're designed to do. KILL.

This is when songs like People Loving People need to be played. Maybe if there is a Studio G tonight, we here it referenced more than once.

Love him or hate him (and believe me, I'm really not pro or anti president Trump)..

a good statement. (since we can't seem to keep on the topic of Studio G for tonight...)

My fellow Americans, we are joined together today in sadness, shock, and grief. Last night, a gunman opened fire on a large crowd at a country music concert in Las Vegas, Nevada. He brutally murdered more than 50 people, and wounded hundreds more. It was an act of pure evil.

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are working closely with local authorities to assist with the investigation, and they will provide updates as to the investigation and how it develops.

I want to thank the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and all of the first responders for their courageous efforts, and for helping to save the lives of so many. The speed with which they acted is miraculous, and prevented further loss of life. To have found the shooter so quickly after the first shots were fired is something for which we will always be thankful and grateful. It shows what true professionalism is all about.

Hundreds of our fellow citizens are now mourning the sudden loss of a loved one -- a parent, a child, a brother or sister. We cannot fathom their pain. We cannot imagine their loss. To the families of the victims: We are praying for you and we are here for you, and we ask God to help see you through this very dark period.

Scripture teaches us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” We seek comfort in those words, for we know that God lives in the hearts of those who grieve. To the wounded who are now recovering in hospitals, we are praying for your full and speedy recovery, and pledge to you our support from this day forward.

In memory of the fallen, I have directed that our great flag be flown at half-staff.

I will be visiting Las Vegas on Wednesday to meet with law enforcement, first responders, and the families of the victims.

In moments of tragedy and horror, America comes together as one -- and it always has. We call upon the bonds that unite us -- our faith, our family, and our shared values. We call upon the bonds of citizenship, the ties of community, and the comfort of our common humanity.

Our unity cannot be shattered by evil. Our bonds cannot be broken by violence. And though we feel such great anger at the senseless murder of our fellow citizens, it is our love that defines us today -- and always will, forever.

In times such as these, I know we are searching for some kind of meaning in the chaos, some kind of light in the darkness. The answers do not come easy. But we can take solace knowing that even the darkest space can be brightened by a single light, and even the most terrible despair can be illuminated by a single ray of hope.

Melania and I are praying for every American who has been hurt, wounded, or lost the ones they love so dearly in this terrible, terrible attack. We pray for the entire nation to find unity and peace. And we pray for the day when evil is banished, and the innocent are safe from hatred and from fear.

May God bless the souls of the lives that are lost. May God give us the grace of healing. And may God provide the grieving families with strength to carry on.

Thank you. God bless America. Thank you

    dont lose hope..

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.

so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-10

It’s difficult for me to find much comfort or guidance in those particular passages, but I hope others can.

I think Garth will the right thing and cancel studio G tonight, or just havea very brief statement.

Again, thoughts and wishes goes out to all the victims, how horrible it must of been for them.

You just cant get your head around how someone could do this.

I don't know if he'll cancel it or not- he probably should. After all, any announcements from Garth about the anthology can be handled in other ways...

If he doesn't cancel... I'll bet it's short...

if it happens in a short manner, I'm sure it'll be subdued.. and there will be mentioning of people loving people as there should be

My humble opinion I think he should postpone doing one til maybe Friday or Saturday when things have cooled a bit, but since I haven't heard anything on Facebook or Twitter, I have a feeling he might be doing a show tonight.

Hmm. Interesting. He encouraged all artists with gigs tonight that "the show must go on" because people come to music to heal.

Beautiful tribute on the show today. "The Change" is a song I always turn to in times of trouble.
