    Wow! Good find.

On another note, The 25th Anniversary Edition of The Chase is now down to just $0.83.

Thats a surprise!!! I know there was a book coming, didnt think the Anthology was a book!!!

    That is actually quite awesome!!!

I guess it will be released the same day/week as the live album?

Waited so long for Garth to do a book!!

who knows? I've pre ordered it to see.. I'd be wiling to wager (knowing Garth's proclivity for trying to keep things reasonable) that it maybe a book AND a cd package together? just a guess. I mean $39.95 is a lot for a BOOK itself, esp. on amazon... (IMO)

My questions are: is it an Amazon exclusive, will it have cds with it, is that a set price, why the off date (I didn't look but isn't the 14th a Monday?), how will it stack up with Taylor's release a few days earlier. Only a couple months until we find out. :-)

Garth has made it VERY CLEAR that the Anthology will include music. He has talked about hearing songs in their infant stages, etc. So the fact this appears to be a book (or some kinda of CD/book combo) is a very pleasant surprise.

For those who may not remember (or may have been too young) when the Beatles released their Anthology it was a HUGE project. It included three 2-CD sets released over several months, an enormous book, and a VHS set that included 8 tapes if I remember correctly. Maybe since Garth is so interested in chasing the Beatles numbers he has taken some other cues as well.

This isn't a Walmart or Target exclusive. It will be available on amazon.co.uk as well. That's pretty cool. I suppose this will be available in shops as well and not just Amazon.

Yeah i pre ordered it as well because shops here can be pretty slow getting things in and I think Amazon might be quicker.

I'm really looking forward to this.

I imagine they may bring this up on Studio G, so that's why I'm personally going to hold off on my pre-order till I find out what this is exactly. Nothing personal to you guys who have the info, I just rather hear it from the G-Man himself.

I was dozing on the couch and had a weird dream about the Anthology box set. A lot of people won't like it if it was true. I dreamed that the boxed set was all his cds, a new cover of DL and a new live album. That is why the price was pretty steep. A nice book with lots of photos, reprinted articles and little stories by Garth. It was being advertised as the Ultimate Garth Brooks anthology. I don't remember if MAM or GS were included. Then Mom woke me up for dinner.

Different shipping weight on amazon.com (1.7 pound) and amazon.co.uk (800g). Makes me think if the international fans aren't getting it all or the US fans are getting extra.

Could be just me Fever, but...... after a quick google conversion

    we get 1.7 pounds...

you get 800g... which translates to 1.76 pounds... 1.7637 pounds to be precise... I think you're getting the same 'deal' the US fan are getting...

Great find! Another reason I love this site. This is where the die hard fans reside! If there's a nugget of information out there, the members here will find it!

Not gonna preorder but I am certainly intrigued. If we get a few discs ala Beatles Anthology with stripped versions along with some legitimate* live recordings then I will pull. If it's just a picture book with stuff we already own I will give it a pass.

*None of that Double Live rehash!

    Garth wouldn't sel just l a picture book at a --$40 price point .
This thing is gonna be something really cool for Garth fans .
In the land, of the midnight sun!

Well this is exciting! Fingers crossed that it really does include some interesting stuff. I'd love for it to include an early recording or two from his early early days before the first album. This also seems like a great place to finally officially release the studio recordings of Your Song and Tearin It Up.

I also imagine he would include at least one brand new single on it.

Pre orders must be slow. Amazon has dropped the price to $32 dollars.

nice- if they've dropped the price, though, we won't be stuck with it if we paid the higher price..

    from their site:

"Pre-order Price Guarantee! Order now and if the Amazon.com price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price."

Awesome, glad those that have already ordered will get the lower price.

The reason is I have high hopes for the anthology is rather silly.

I believe things come in THREES.

This year, there were three big things for me in terms of popular culture.

1: Seinfeld came here for a stand up show, I had the biggest of expectations, in fact crazy expectations, that he couldnt possibly meet and in the end
    he far far exceeded them.

2: IT, Stephen King is my fav author of my life time, when I heard they were doing a movie of IT, I thought that will be cool, IT was the book that got me
into King, and I loved the mini series they had in the 90's and again the MOVIE, far far exceeded my highest expectations, the KID cast was perfect, great to
see a movie that actually hired kid actors to play kids, and have the actors actually talk how kids talk.

So if things come in threes, I have the biggest expectations for the anthology, crazy expectations, and I think they will be exceeded, because of the
"Things comes in Threes" saying that I 100% believe in.

    Time will tell.

Now that we have a release date and Amazon listing, do you think he'll be announcing it officially this week? Hopefully he'll discuss it on tomorrow's Studio G.

If I had to guess, I would imagine that he would announce tomorrow that he'll make an announcement about it next week

Yes I do realize that is a bit sarcastic

Ehhhhh not really how it works. This hasn't even been announced yet, so there's no expectation of pre-order sales. I'd guess the listing was posted early in error. Prices often fluctuate considerably between pre-order and release date, especially for books. That's why Amazon offers the pre-order price guarantee. I wouldn't look anything it a changing price.
