Possible track names we've heard so far:

    There's Gotta Be a Honky-Tonk Somewhere
    The Weekend
    Pure Adrenaline
Sometimes You Have to Die to Live Again
Baby, Let's Lay Down and Dance
    Whiskey to Wine
    Eighteen
    He Really Loves You
    Cowboys & Friends

Really like it! Can't wait to see the cover on Monday.

I have to mention that Vince Gill released an album a few years ago called "Guitar Slinger," which was obviously a fun play on the word "gunslinger."

Someone recently pointed out that the title "Gunslinger" might have negative connotations what with the generally negative attitude towards guns in today's society. I wonder if Garth considered this and chose it anyway, knowing it would garner controversy.

    Gunpowder? nah- it's Gunslinger...

    https://scontent.fsnc1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...27577602_o.jpg

Can't say honestly that I like the name- or that I dislike it.. gonna depend heavily I think (shallow as that is) on the artwork/cover.....

will it be seen as controversial? another interesting guess

If anything, the idea of guns will appeal to the younger generation that country radio plays to.

That's why I don't feel it's controversial... because when I think of a gunslinger, I think of old westerns and Wyatt Earp, not inner streets Chicago or school shootings. I dunno, maybe that's just me.

You know, I was gonna say something about your answer being 'bitter', and off base, etc.. But then I looked at Garth's answer again or words about the album on inside studio G tonight. I like his story of how it came about, the title. it makes sense.. I wouldn't go about telling people to 'stop being negative crybabies' about it, as there should be nothing wrong in having an objective opinion (even if not popular) about Garth, even if it isn't a positive one. too many still seem to worship the man, and he's just that- a man.. who makes mistakes... Still, I gotta say after listening to Garth- I like the gun slinger idea title wise..

I knew that would be the case. I figured once we heard his explanation, it would make perfect sense and would be well suited to the man and the album.

My comments wasn't directed at anyone per say. It just seems people are overly sensitive and do not look into something before running their mouths. Do some research before you put down something.

Hey Bitter- ya need to chill just a bit.. never claimed that your words were directed at anyone in particular. (in fact that's kinda why I used the phrase 'go about telling people' rather than 'go about telling <insert PG member's name here>.

it's the name calling thing.... LOL I don't need to do research, this isn't gun thread or message board but thanks for asking... some have differing opinions on the album title is ok, and frankly that's just fine. to be honest I was a little hesitant (didn't quite resonate with the title at first) but then I heard Garth tell the story behind the title, and the meaning on this week's studio G. as I said above, I like the idea of the title..

just relax man, its simple opinions

Taste of Country confirmed that 'Cowboys & Friends' is the last song on the album and it is written by Garth and Matthew Rossi. Rossi co-wrote Midnight Train on Man Against Machine.

Another interesting note: "Brooks says “Eighteen” is a song for his most loyal fans, as it’s filled with hidden gems. Many won’t understand the meaning of his lyrics, while others will dig into to every word to look for references to the icon’s life and career. If there was a theme song for his fan club, Brooks says “Eighteen” would be it."

I have a feeling this album is going to be really special.

So based on this article I guess the song "Sometimes You Have To Die To Live Again" is not confirmed. It'd be a shame if it didn't make the album, because I really liked what I heard of the song.

I guess "Weekend" is also not listed as a confirmed track, but I doubt it would have been included in that recent Studio G video if it hadn't made the cut.

I think The Weekend is that summer song he was talking about on the last Inside Studio G. Doesn't it have this reggae/caribbean sound?
The sevens have aligned. It has begun...

The Weekend sounded like it would be single #3.
