    Wynn's facebook post

I just saw this post from Wynn

Wynn Las Vegas On the fence about purchasing Garth Brooks tickets? Watch what his fans say here: http://wyn.lv/9BMOje then book your tickets at http://bit.ly/brrttB or by calling 1-877-65-GARTH!

I hope that means they are having trouble scalping....i mean selling these tickets at the higher price.

They have been on sale for 30 minutes and I just went to ticketmaster to see how it was and there was not even a 1 minute wait to pull up tickets 5th row seats. This is NOT normal at all. Looks like the ticket prices did affect sales. Hopefully enough to show Wynn he needs to go back to the original price.

Funny that he's using the true fans to promote the show now that he's priced most of us out of the market. I hope like hell it bites him in the bum.

I hope Garth is not feeling hurt by this.. 2 hours into the sale and not a single show has sold out. I hope he is having an "i told you so" moment with Steve Wynn. I am glad he has the Nashville concerts coming up so he can feel the love if he is feeling down at all about what Steve Wynn has done. I do 100% blame Steve Wynn for this, his quote on raising prices was very clear he said " MY decision to raise prices" not "OUR decision". Greed is a terrible thing.

This ticket price hike and essential scalping that is being done via Ticketmaster with the go-ahead coming from Steve Wynn's office is uncannily similar to the main plot line of the movie Pure Country. Steve Wynn is essentially Lesley Ann Warren and Garth has become the dancing chicken. Ironically, the movie ends with just "Dusty" and his guitar on a stage in Las Vegas.

I think Garth should rework the lyrics "Dixie Chicken" into "Dancing Chicken" and sing it on the Wynn stage - and I sure as heck hope someone breaks that camera rule and gets a video of it for me....cause for $500/pair I'm probably not going to be there

What nerve he has! Using fans who have traveled from all over just to see Garth just doesn't seem right in my book. I sure am glad I'm not in that promo video!

I just checked various shows. I was able to get two seats together in the third row, and a single in the second row. I was planning to go back in February and make it my annual GB visit. The three shows I saw last February were awesome. But I got to see three for less than the price of two. I can see why he hasn't sold a show out yet. Garth and Steve may be thinking the shows aren't selling as fast because everyone is going to Nashville. I don't believe this to be the case. They're totally different shows and I WAS willing to pay for Nashville in December then Vegas in February. Southwest has had some great specials making two trips feasible.

So Wynn has got to be a pretty brilliant guy, right, to get where he is.... but how much stupid does it take to know that he priced the fans out, the ones that travel, that go to multiple shows, etc.... that if you want to go to Vegas for a weekend and it cost over $1,000 for two people to go to 2 shows that it isn't going to be feasible for most?
So, that begs the question... is it purposeful and Wynn knew himself the tics wouldn't sell? There has got to be some back story to all of this is all I'm thinkin.

I am so glad that G sold out so much in Nashville... to know the people are and will always be there for him. This is either a whole lot of stupid or someone punishing someone else for whatever reason.

    awesomely done ErinRae.

And there's gotta be a backstory to the price hike. I mean, why else would the ticket prices go up so high so fast? Sounds like there's been a falling out to me.

I just checked a few shows. Same third row seats still available in February. This is just unheard of. I wonder if the ticket prices will be reduced and those who did buy would get reimbursed the difference? I think it's time we heard from Garth! I so want to go in February but I don't want to pay the increase

I just had to check availability again. The same third row seats are still available in February. This is just so unheard of! I'm still waiting to hear from Garth regarding this increase. It does look like Wynn took down the promo video. Thank goodness for that!

Wynn's greed will prevent me from spending my birthday with Garth. There is no way we can afford it now, not at all that Garth is not worth it just not possible for me.
December in Nashville with Garth makes for a Very Merry Christmas!!!

Thank you, Garth Brooks. And baccarat.

Increased number of visitors may push more show ticket prices up
    By LAURA MYERS
    LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

Thank you, Garth Brooks. And baccarat.

When it comes to predicting Nevada's economic future, prognosticators search for any sign -- big or small -- of shifting spending habits to forecast how much money the state will collect in taxes and fees.

So, when ticket prices jumped by $110 to $253 for the country star's rare Las Vegas concerts, forecasters took note. And when high-rollers suddenly started playing up to an astonishing $60 million a day at Nevada baccarat tables, the bean counters began to recalculate their figures.

    ...

The most interesting forecast-modeling decision that upped revenue projections centered on news in early November that Wynn Las Vegas would raise ticket prices for Brooks' next 16 performances.

The concerts are part of a five-year deal with Brooks, who came out of retirement to perform.

"My decision to raise the ticket price was a simple one. The demand for Garth was so overwhelming that it caught us by surprise," Wynn Resorts Chairman and Chief Executive Steve Wynn said at the time. "We could fill a theater many times the size of this, twice a night."

The 1,500-seat Encore Theater quickly began selling out for Brooks' dates, including this weekend, as well as for Jan. 21-23, Feb. 11-13 and Feb. 25-27.

When Lawton heard the news he quickly checked if other casino properties were also raising ticket prices. They weren't, but he learned that the gaming industry expects more visitors, who would likely want to see more Vegas shows.

As a result, Lawton changed his forecast of how much money he thought Nevada casinos would earn from live entertainment, including Brooks' shows, resulting in an added $8.5 million in expected revenue this year and through the end of fiscal 2013.

In total, Lawton raised expected revenue over three years from $333.3 million to $341.8 million, annual growth of more than 2 to 3 percent.

"We thought that if visitation goes up, maybe the (attendance at) large shows will go up," Lawton said. "This is the only forecast that really changed for us because of the ticket prices."

Las Vegas expects more than 37 million visitors this calendar year, with 1.2 percent more in 2011.

Asked if he had ever seen Brooks in concert, Lawton laughed and said, "No comment," although he added, "I like Garth Brooks and he is a country star coming out of retirement."

Maddox, who works for Wynn, said not to expect more ticket sticker shock beyond Brooks, who initially balked at raising the cost for his fans to hear him sing.

"That one was unique," Maddox said.

This is just hype. As we know tickets didn't sell quickly at all! Steve will just be giving the high-rollers free tickets. Even at that, I doubt he can give enough away to fill the theater. I only envision a handful of true Garth fans at these shows. No matter what forecasters or anyone else says, I don't see how Garth can justify this price increase. The 1-2% increase in revenue isn't worth playing to an audience of high-rollers versus true fans!

Yes, we all know the truth...that there was no quick sellout of tickets. If they are "sold out" now, it's most likely that the tickets are being given to the high rollers or the scalpers are picking them up, now that they don't have to provide names of attendees, thinking they'll be able to re-sell them.

I just checked three shows in January and February. Rows 10, 11, and 13 are still available so they're definitely not sold out. I wonder if any of the Decembers shows sold out. I think I read somewhere here that one person was going in December. So we might not get any reviews unless it's from someone new. It's really sad because reading the reviews were the highlights of my week after a show .

As for scalpers, I can't imagine someone paying more than the face value amount unless it's first row.

I hate this for Garth!!!! What a crappy deal. I was hoping to be able to fly out for a couple of shows when I get my income tax back but......
I'm not too sure that I want to help line Mr. Wynn's pockets. Glad I'm not alone in feeling like something's not quite right with this arrangement.
