Are Westlife doing a version of The Dance? For a new album or?
WESTLIFE have a new fan in country king Garth Brooks, who was bowled over by the lads' version of his song The Dance.
Says a spy: "He's given them his full backing, the song's going to be big." The year's shaping up well for the lads, who are in Australia where Raise Me Up is about to go to No. 1.

"If I Only Had A Brain!"-The Scarecrow From 'The Wizard Of Oz'.
"Dad, the Scarecrow thought with his heart."-Taylor Mayne Pearl Brooks, August Anna Brooks, Allie Colleen Brooks to their Dad.
"It's funny how, you know, in the Wizard of Oz, the whole tone of the book and everything, it's the sepiatone from the Scarecrow and what he stood for. It's funny how, in there, the one who didn't have a heart, loved the most. The one that didn't have courage seemed to be the bravest in the times that he needed to, so uh, the Scarecrow is why this was."-Garth Brooks
Brian(Pilgrim) gave it to me I believe. I'll have to dig it out.
Westlife already slaughtered one of my favorite songs of all time, 'Desperado' by the Eagles. I guess I better hold my ears for this one. . .
Oh no, not The Dance.... Not Westlife![]()
I think that htis song/cover was released a few years ago actually..
I know hat their manager/producer/exec/whatever ya call it is (at least was) simon cowell...

Whenever a crap pop act wants a number one hit in the UK, they turn to Country music and butcher great songs. Ronan Keating's horrendous takes on "When You Say Nothing At All" and "If Tomorrow Never Comes" were bad enough, now Westlife jump on the bandwagon.
I'd rather they release Garth's own version into the charts than whats certain to be another heinous crime against music.
can't say I totally disagree with ya there, Dave!

For taking a chance on good country music. They couldn't even make it with these songs if it were not true. If they are butchering them as bad as some would like me to believe, then why do they find success with them, huh?
Their manager is Louis Walsh not the dreaded Simon Cowell.
I know Simon either was their manager at one time, or maybe it was him that discovered them, etc..
I read in his book about his connection to westlife...

Simon Cowell's roster of signing reads like a who's who of pop success stories over the last decade (including some seemingly unlikely ones). Highlights include, Curiosity Killed The Cat, Sonia, and cornering the boy band market, bad boys of pop Five (who disbanded last year) and the global multi-platinum phenomenon, Westlife. Of which all are part of Cowell's record label "S Records."
Isn't he also connected somehow to Il Divo? Or am I imagining that one?
Simon does work with Il Divo, so your not imagining that! He decided to work with them because he loves that genre and wanted to try something different.
I completely agree with David on this. You forget another song Ronan Keating murdered though, 'I Hope You Dance' - sorry to remind you!
Ronan murdered quite a few tunes. Seems Westlife and Ronan have the same thing..Originally Posted by Garth_BradFan

Yes. David mentioned that one. . .

I do have to give Ronan credit on one thing. He did have a hand in writing 'The Long Goodbye', which was a big hit for Brooks & Dunn, with Paul Brady though I do wonder just how much of the song was Ronan's writing.
Didn't Simon Cowell have something to do with The Spice Girls?
SPEAK NOT THE NAME, becky
I don't believe Simon can be blamed for them in any way, but I could be wrong.
Simon Fuller was responsible for the Spice Girls - sorry to mention them David.
maybe Simon's guilty by association , as he worked w/ Simon fuller a bit..
I agree- speak not the name!

Ofcourse Garth has covered other's songs, but he didn't build a career on it and at least Garth added something to the original not release second rate (well lower actually) versions of really good songs.
