Hi. I just had to post after just hearing "It's your Song" for the first time. I saw the video on CMT earlier this afternoon. I had tears in my eyes, and a big ol' lump in my throat! And I'm mad because I've had that album for a little while now, and didn't notice this song!Did he write this song?? This may sound corny, but it sounded like it's a song for all us Garth Fans!
It pulls my heart strings.
Does anyone know if Garth ever recorded a studio version, or was this just a song he sang live at concerts? And is his christmas album still available? The one from the movie, "Call me Claus".
Thanks
Angie

Oh i LOVE this song! It's really one that speaks to people on so many levels. We definately need to do this as a song of the week!
There was another thread talking about this song recently, let me see if I can find it. Be back soon!

Benita Hill wrote this song for her mother and Garth thought it fit very well for his mother too.
Hey Angie:
Glad to learn you finally heard this great song.
Most of us rip the wrappers off the cd and play the cd over and over and over...you did really well not to wear out the cd and to save a great song like "It's your song" for a while after you bought the cd.
Now can you teach the rest of us to be that patient when first getting a new cd?LOL![]()

Thanks
Angie
LostINEyou- Thanks for the info. I hope I'm able to find that xmas CD here. If I don't find it, I'll be kicking myself for not buying when I should have!
Angie
Do yourself a favor and check out Garth's live version of it that kicks off that Red Cross special. Trisha did pretty awesome on that show too.
Great, great song and sooo touching and lovely!!! Still!!!
Maybe this helps you to learn some more about Benita Hill:
http://www.benitahill.com/
Benita Hill's songs crossed so many musical boundaries that even Garth Brooks was moved to record three of her compositions. The #1 single Two Pina Coladas and Take the Keys to My Heart are on his Sevens album. It Was Your Song was renamed It's Your Song as a dedication to his mother. It was the first single from Garth's Double Live CD.

You shouldn't have any problem finding The Magic of Christmas...it's readily available. Just be sure you get the re-release that has the three new songs. The Christmas CD that is hard to find is Beyond the Season.Originally posted by Luvs*Garth*1128

Hi Fuzz wuzz. Where can I see/hear this Red Cross Special??
Thanks
Angie
Thanks diem nash. I'm gonna check it out!![]()
Angie, a fellow Garth fan sent me a video of it. You have to not only hear it to believe it, but actually SEE it. Sure, his mom has always inspired him. But after watching that live performance it goes much deeper than that. It's my song and your song too. He did an awesome job. One of my favorites now that I've finally seen it.![]()
Sorry, I just realized that I'd found that other thread I mentioned above, and never linked it to this one. I'm gonna blame it on old age...
