    hey

im glad you're looking for us....but
poetry.com is a scam. you can send them anything, and they'll send you a letter back saying "you're a semifinalist, and you're poem has been selected to appear in an upcoming book".
the book is huge, with a bunch of dribble, and costs $60.
in other words, your poem will probably never get read.

I actually submitted a poem to them that I wrote when my mom passed away, and just as Scott said, I got a notification that I was a simifinalist and was offed the book. A friend of mines husband also submitted something and got the same reply. Oh well, it's a nice thought.

Well, I didn´t know that. Sorry!

But hey! How could I forget that the best informed people are already here!

I still hope that your work will get noticed the way it should be one day.

If I meet somebody who has that power to make people recognise your art I´ll do everything I can.

Do you think we could post original poems here? Just to share with each other? I understand that it would not exactly be music related.... but they could possible be set to music.

To any moderating member..... would this be ok?

Do you mean your own poems or some by artists we know? You see, I once opened a thread asking for some lyrics and we were talking about it. So I think it´s okay. I did it in the "other artists"-forums.

    Maybe it helped.

Yes Maddy - I meant our own original works. It'd be fun to read and share. I'll post one tonight from home. Looking forward to it!

Just seeing your writing in print must be very rewarding, "scam" or not.

Ok I'll start......... remember I am in no way a expert...... but here is the poem I wrote when my mom passed on....

    My Angel Mother

    I know you're going to a place
The rest of us can only dream of,
With you, you'll take a piece of our hearts
    And all our undying love.

We who remain, here on earth
    Will miss you every day,
But we mourn not for where you've gone
Only for that we must stay.

Heaven awaits you, My Angel Mother
I know you'll be happier there,
And we'll all join you one fine day
In the hands of His love and His care.

So for now, we bid you so long
For ourselves are the tears we cry,
You're the lucky one, to be by His side
So fly, My Angel Mother, fly........

WOW!!! What a great poem. Well, I´m a little "sensitive" now, because Ann, who´s such a great gift and friend for me,lost her mom.

However! It was very well done!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Is your mom gone, too?

Well, keep it going and share your work here. But please start a new thread. So everybody can find it, you know? And the mod´s don´t get any work.

    Great work!

    Thank you!

    Huggs!

i have a poem in two of those books, which are out in stores like Barnes and Noble, etc. and i have come in as a semi finalist too, they have conventions like anyone else.

i also had my poem put on a cd. whcih i have seen out on shelves.

so no it's not a rip off, you don't have to buy the books, i didn't but i have my work published. in fact the first poem was about James Garver.

    what's wrong with that?

by the way that's a beautiful poem!
    take care,

Could you possibly repost it? The archives tend to be quite lenghty and I don't know the name of the thread.

Would realy love to read it.

    Thanks

I found it in the achives..

I hope ya'll can read this GREAT poem deAnn!

    Eye so Blue

Tommy here's a repost of the song. For all you newcomers, i had this for 4 years and never showed it to anyone. Then i joined PG and everyone encouraged me to give it a shot. Now, i'm a semi-finalist in a national poetry contest and they are going to publish my song in poem form and give me the copywrite. So just remember, "Choose the chance the rapids and dare to dance that tide"

    Eyes so Blue

    Eyes so blue
    Like an open prarie sky
    A smile so sweet,
Like a long slow country mile

It's in the way you move,
    the music of your laugh,
The warmth that's in your voice
    Eyes so blue

    A space in time,
    is captured in a photograph
    A day i know,
    i'm not likely to forget

    You could have walked away,
    You didn't have to stay
    The kindness that you gave,
    Lives in my heart today

    Eyes so blue

And even if our path's should never
    chance to cross again,

In my heart and in my thoughts
    you will remain, my friend

    My eyes so blue.

this is dedicated to James Garver and Garth Brooks, which is who this song is about.

thanks for asking to see again.

Just wanted to let you know that I cleaned it up to get rid of the formatting breaks that show up in these older threads.

I tried to find this last night but couldn't...good job Vanessa.

That's a great poem! I have to say that it really does fit the situation when I got to meet Garth a couple of years ago. With him taking the time to stop and talk for a moment and sign a picture. Brings back a GREAT memory.

    Thanks for sharing it.
