Joyce, will you be there? Maybe there will be something there you can use for your next column (hint, hint).

Does anyone know who the judges will be? I remember reading once that Natalie Maines wanted to do it.

This was in my paper today ::

    THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
USA Network and Sony Music are scouring the nation for "the next great country music artist.'' The cattle call will be televised as part of a new American Idol-style series called Nashville Star. The show, to premiere early next year, will follow the pool of contestants as it whittles its way down to the eventual winner, who will get a contract with Sony Music Nashville. USA's alternative programming executive, Chris Sloan, tried to distance the program from Fox's American Idol, of course. "Our show is open to talented country music performers from all ages and all walks of life,'' he noted (American Idol allowed only young contestants). "We're not looking for the next one-hit wonder (ooh, a slam against Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, who has one No. 1 hit in one try so far) but the next superstar for the long haul. Our Nashville Star is not a premanufactured star created by the industry (slam No. 2 on poor Kelly) but a true artist discovered by the fans.'' Nashville Star will hold its first auditions today in Nashville, then will visit cities across the country to find talent. WHOK (95.5 FM) will host the central Ohio auditions at a date and time to be announced. Cincinnati, Cleveland and Pittsburgh also will hold auditions. OH my goodness, that description of it being what everyone's version of what Nashville must look like is SO right on! One of the first people I saw when I walked in that day was a publicist at Sony and I said to her - This is so exciting! All of a sudden we LOOK like Music City!

People all over the sidewalks in cowboy hats, carrying guitar cases. There was a little trio complete with an upright bass on the corner between the arena and the HOF with an open guitar case, playing for tips.

    I loved it!

Allison I just read your article with the slams on the American Idol winner. She really has a #1 hit? Somehow I thought she was making a country record, I guess not.

If you get the opportunity to go down and watch the auditions I really recommend it. Free entertainment!

Wish I could! You'll have to keep us informed on the scoop Joyce. If I get excited enough maybe I'll take the time to watch this one on TV.
