Garth Mention - Cledus T. Judd

If you go to Country.com and read their 20 Questions (*sigh*) with Cledus T. Judd you'll find the following Garth tidbit:

    -------------------------------------------------------------
    2. Have you made any songwriters mad with your comical rewrites?

The only one who ever said anything really was Garth Brooks. The song was "In Another's Eyes" that he and Trisha did, and we did a parody called "You Need Another Size." Garth said the song was up for a Grammy and he'd rather us not do anything to affect it. Of course, I replied, "Garth, if I can keep you from winning a Grammy, then I'm not making nearly enough money in this business."

Don't bother, the song is euh... Well.. Euh... I've Seen better? Honestly, we've all heard cledus' songs and that ain't one of his best, it's reather easy and a tad mean when you know the subject's itchy for euh.. some people... But oh well...

    ROTFLMAO!!!!!

OMG, y'all have to hear this! (Sorry Garth, but it's funny, just the voices) There's a snippet of it at CDnow - just don't have any liquids near your keyboards when you listen to it.
    http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver.../itemid=798761

By the way, I guess Garth didn't have to worry about it hurting his chance for the Grammys, since it won the 1997 Best Country Collaboration With Vocals.

I'm sure that the Grammy voters never heard the song, given that none of us ever even heard the song, and we have our Garth radar tuned a little sharper than most.

Here's an article that expands upon what Cledus said in "20 Questions," apparently he DID keep the parody off the previous album at Garth's request, and waited until after it won the Grammy to put it on an album.

    I couldn't find lyrics either.

That was very cool of Cledus to delay the song for Garth! It sounds like Garth didn't have a problem with what the song was saying--just the timing. Good to know that he has a sense of humor--lol.

My favorite song on that Cledus CD is "Livin' Like John Travolta"--knowing that Garth's a Travolta friend/fan I thought he'd get a kick out of that song! lol

I think the lyrics go something like this (and I'm typing from memory so excuse any bits missing or inaccuracies):

IN ANOTHER SIZE (as sung by 'Weight' Gaines and Patricia Earwood - oh, be still my 'aching' sides)

    I need another size
    Cos I'm someone who
    Has eaten too much
    For these size 32s
    Gonna bust out the seams
    From too many fries
I need another size - yeah

    You need another size
    At least try some on
    Cos believe you me
    You ain't skin and bone
Your britches are way too small
    Forget them Calvin Kleins
You need another size - yeah

    CHORUS
    I need another size - cos I'm afraid that I can't breathe
These skin-tight starched new Wranglers look like they're painted on me
I need to Jazzercise, but I'm way too lazy to
Cos every time I look my belly's proof
    I need another size

    I need another size
    Cos folk stare at me
    There in the buffet line
Where it's 'all you can eat'
    The scales don't lie
You lost the thin, thin thighs
You need another size - yeah

And what they don't see - these pants are killing me
I need a trainer and a nurse, my blood pressure's high

    CHORUS
Cos in another size, I could double up on sweets
They've got to make some Wranglers that will fit my physique
But they don't specialise in pants the size of parachutes
So I guess I'll walk around in my birthday suit
    Until they make another size
    We need another size.

Angela (just wondering how many PGers perked up at the thought of Garth in his birthday suit!)

    Oh man!!!

That is sooo bad... but even cute!

J, what a loyal Garthnutt you are!!!

    BAD GIRL!!!

Well, I think Garth is a big boy - too big to feel bad ībout that. Well, I guess he feels more bad that you all enjoy it sooo much.

Donīt tell him! I think itīs funny, too!

And Angela, you know the words outward?! Man, am I disappointed now!

Itīs just too funny. And somebody like Garth is teased by lots of people - even "friends" like Jay Leno.

Heīs just perfect the way he looks - this or another size!

You know what comes into my mind?

"Adonis in blue jeans". That fits him more I think.

"So, would you be my life partner?"

    "No!!!"

"Mister and Mrs. Garth Brooks! Everybody common!"

Another funny song at all is Tim Wilsonīs song "Garth Brooks ruined my life". Nasty and full of jealous, but at all a victory for our boy!

Well, guess what I found on Cledus T. Juddīs homepage section "Critics say"?!

    "C o m i n g S o o n ! !

I guess the guy knows why he better doesnīt start that!

    Very funny!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Maddy

BTW! Who looks good in a Wrangler?

    Some help for you, girls:

Thanks, Maddy - you're not the only person to express disappointment that I remembered the words to that 'classic' - what can I say? I am deeply, deeply sorry Unfortunately my blessing of a good memory for songs can also be a curse, it seems.

'In Another Size' isn't the only song which references Garth by Cledus. He's also done another (earlier) track which includes Garth's name in the lyric - anyone remember the title of that one?

(not, I should point out, a fan of Mr Judd's - though his collaboration with Toby Keith on the video for 'How Do You Milk A Cow' deserves a standing ovation)

If memory serves(and it often betrays, lol) Garth put the cabosh on the video for this song as it was shot in a gym Garth happened to work out in often. The video portrayed 'Patricia Earwood' as being VERY heavy (Cledus in drag in fact). Garth happened to be there that day and scared the cr*p out of Cledus as he asked him (nicely) to refrain from making a video with such a mean bent towards Miss Yearwood.

What happened to Cletus in Florida?

If memory serves, Fuss, Cledus went down to Florida because he was booked to play support for Garth, but stuff happened on the other way, he didn't make it and Jeff Foxworthy did the support instead. That's what I seem to recall of the song anyway - and no, I don't think it's based on any true events.

Cledus is funny, I like him.

LOL, I think Cledus IS funny, but sometimes he gets on my nerves, and I remember this song, and wasn't impressed, some of it is indeed funny, but It also made me feel bad listening to it. And I'm very Happy that Garth put the stop to the video--Especially if it was to protect Trisha--thats ALways Good! Trisha Deserves ONLY THE BEST!
Oh, and VERY Nice Pic! Mmmm, mmmm!

That is the most ridiculious song I've ever heard. And the names of the performers?! HAHAHAHA....I think he needs to find something else to do with his time...IMHO!!!! Who listens to him anyway?!

I don't think it is appropriate for anyone to insult Mrs. Yearwood. But thats Cledus's profession.
