keith urban gets country at 12th and Porter

Wow. Anyone catch this show advertised in today's Nashville City Paper?

For those with any knowledge of the happenings on Music Row, keith urban is a guitar stud who needs no introduction. His fan base harkens back to his Aussie roots, though his career with his original outfit The Ranch was victimized by mishandling in the mid-’90s by Capitol Records. The deal went sour, the band broke up and urban resurfaced as a solo artist. His music isn’t as raw and country-rock-oriented as it was a few years ago, perhaps kowtowing to radio interests, but as a musician he is second to none with the six-string. He is so much more engaging live than on his CD, so this is the way to catch him. He plays at 7:30 p.m. at 12th and Porter, 114 12th Ave. S. For more information call 254-7236.
Man! To think I could have seen keith when he was here with the Neon Circus! We went to see Journey instead. Dwight Yoakam will be with the circus and this time I'm going!!

    Hey Dale --

Keith is real good about playing the clubs around Nashville regularly. Not just the high profile gigs like the Bluebird either. It's like he just loves to play. I don't know what a gig like 12th & Porter pays, but when you consider he commands thousands for a concert show, it's cool that he still does the small gigs too. I've heard he will stay onstage forever too when doing one of these little shows.

Anything else interesting going on in Nashville? You keep up with our paper so much better than I do!

I have to agree with the paper - ku is fabulous live - but I was unimpressed with his cd. I hope to see him this summer when he comes to CT - hopefully he can relay some of his "live energy" on his next cd!

That's awesome that keith still does little shows like that I'm such a HUGE fan of his, he has become my 2nd favorite next to Garth. I'm going to be seeing him on May 11 and meeting him for the first time, and I'm counting the minutes!! His live shows, like some have already mentioned, are amazing! I've never seen a better guitarist than him, and his band is fabulous, too!
