    Back from Nashville!

Finally back and somewhat settled in again. This weekend was great! It was so nice seeing so many people again that I met in August, and meeting some new people. Unfortunately, didn't get to spend that much time with most people, but it was a blast.

My mom and I got in Saturday afternoon, checked in at the hotel, and headed right over to the HOF. Got some pictures of the drum pod with the drums set up now. Met up with some PGer's for dinner later, which was a lot of fun.

Went to the Pancake Pantry Sunday morning, and then Mo and Paula were our guides to GBM and up to the gates and stuff. (Thanks guys!!!) Didn't do that much in the afternoon but rest a little and get psyched for the show.

Had dinner and headed over to the show about 6:00. Saw a lot of PGer's outside. We had 8th row seats, center section. I just want to say a huge "THANK YOU" to JoAnne for getting us these AWESOME seats!!! I couldn't believe how great they were! I can't wait to get my pictures back!

Time for the show to start. Garth comes out to start the show, and cameras everywhere are going nuts! He stands there for a second til it slows down just a bit. Then he starts singing acapella by himself before being joined by Beth on the first song. All I can say is WOW!!! The whole show was incredible. I remember Garth saying he'd never do an accoustic album, because he wants to hide his voice behind as much as possible. I kept listening to his voice wishing he didn't feel that way. An accoustic album would be nothing short of amazing! I also found myself watching Garth and his reactions even during much of the readings. My mom says he was like a little kid listening to someone telling a story. He was enjoying it as much as the rest of us. He did get very emotional at some points. I'll tell ya, it kills me to see that man crying!

There were so many highlights of the show, but one of the best parts of all was when they came back out to play some more songs at the end. The most emotional Garth got all night was when Beth was talking about when Garth found out she was going through treatment for breast cancer and sang a song for him. The story Garth told before doing "Thicker than Blood" was very emotional too. All I can say is that I hope they all do this show again in the future. Garth, Beth and Anthony were all wonderful, and there is no other setting to see Garth this way. It was nothing short of incredible! The show alone was WELL worth the trip!

It was a little disappointing Garth couldn't stick around afterwards, but I understand and completely respect his priorities. It was still a great trip!

Thanks for the details from the show, Lisa. It sounds like the show was AWESOME. I'm so glad you and some others from here had the chance to go see it.

Vanessa, acapella is when someone sings without musical accompaniment.

    Madeleine,
I wish, it would be Christmas every day!

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day
    by ROY WOOD AND WIZZARD

Are you ready children? (yes! yes! yes!)

When the snowman brings the snow
Well he just might like to know
He's put a great big smile, on somebody's face
If you jump into your bed
    Quickly cover up your head
    Don't you lock the doors
You know that sweet Santa Claus in on the way

Well I wish it could be Christmas, every day
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play
Oh, I wish it could be Christmas, every day
Let the bells ring out for Christmas

When we're skating in the park
If the snow cloud makes it dark
Then your rosy cheek's gonna light my merry way
    Now the frosty paws appear
And they've frozen up my ear
So we'll lie by the fire
'til the sleet simply knocks 'em all away

Well I wish it could be Christmas, every day
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play
Oh, I wish it could be Christmas, every day
So let the bells ring out for Christmas

When the snowman brings the snow (when the snowman brings the snow)
Well he just might like to know (well he just might like to know)
He's put a great big smile on somebody's face
So if Santa brings that sleigh (Santa brings that sleigh)
All along the Milky Way (along the Milky Way)
I'll sign my name on the rroftop in the snow
Then he may decide to stay

Well I wish it could be Christmas, every day
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play
Oo-oh, I wish it could be Christmas, every day
So let the bells ring out for Christmas

Okay you lot - take it!

Well, I wish it could be Christmas, every day (Christmas day)
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play (Oh-oh)
Oh, I wish it could be Christmas, every day
Let the bells ring out for Christmas

Why don't you give your love for Christmas?

(when the snowman brings the snow)
(when the snowman brings the snow)
(when the snowman brings the snow)
(when the snowman brings the snow)
(when the snowman brings the snow)
(when the snowman brings the snow)
    Loooovvveeee that song
Especially when it's played by Die Toten Hosen

    Very cool review, Lisa!

. I remember Garth saying he'd never do an accoustic album, because he wants to hide his voice behind as much as possible. I kept listening to his voice wishing he didn't feel that way. An accoustic album would be nothing short of amazing!
I so agree with you! The times that I have seen Garth on TV singing with just his guitar, I just sit back and marvel at his voice! He is at his best when he does that! I would love an acustic album! (sigh)

All I can say is that I hope they all do this show again in the future. Garth, Beth and Anthony were all wonderful, and there is no other setting to see Garth this way. It was nothing short of incredible! The show alone was WELL worth the trip!
I hope they do it again or Garth does something along this line (acustic) in the future. If I ever get the chance to see him perform live again, this is how I would want it to be! Are you listening Garth Angels?

    Thanks, Lisa!

    Hi Brian!
    Nice to see you!
I know that band, but its not the music I like! Do you speak German?!
    But my wish still exists!

I also would like to hear some acoustic songs by Garth. I always love it, if someone sits there with just a guitar, playing some music and singing a song. Its sooo romantic!!!
    I love that!!!

    Lisa,

Thanks for sharing your Garth moments!
It must've been wonderful to be right there when Garth sang
"Thicker Than Blood"! I love that song!

    No Hanging Around After??

No one has actually gone into much detail about this, but I gather that Garth did not appear outside after the show to say hello to anyone?

Surprising in a way, but also understandable considering he'd been away all weekend and probably wanted to get home. Too bad though that no one got a chance to at least say hello.

Garth's girls were with him so about an hour after the show they got into their SUV and drove away. There was probably about 100 people that were hoping to meet him - but to the best of my knowledge, no was able too. That was the only bummer of the night.

    Hi!

    Garth's girls.....his daughters???

    Hi!

Must say...I was totally disappointed. I was about 3 rows from the very back.....the man in front of me was about 6 ft 5 in., so I could not see much if anything at all.....and I have a hearing problem.....so I could not hear much of what was happening.

I do know all the other PGers seemed to get close up seats. Thanks, all! Seems like PGers stick together. In fact, the girl sitting next to me had two tickets.....somebody at the show gave her a free seat but she could not sit in both of them (LOL). complain.....complain.

I don't know....the whole thing seemed so completely opposite of a Garth concert? Friends in Low Places seems more Garth like to me.

    Cathy,
Yeah, he came out after the show. There was a big fence in between us and Garth, but he did take time to come over and say hi, and thanks for the night and merry christmas. All that. Course there were no autographs or pictures with him b/c he was going out to eat with family. I was kinda sad about that, but I was lucky enough to be in the front of the crowd so I got a good look at him when he was talking to us. Also a lot of people, including me, got to give flowers, letters, ect to him. So it was pretty cool. Closest Ive ever been to him so I was excited!!

Sarah - How gorgeous is he close up?

I think that is so sweet and considerate of Garth, to come out and say hello, even though he doesn't have the time to stay and chat. He could easily just sneak away and people could have stood there waiting for hours before they knew he was gone.

Carol - I saw a few posts where people were offering tickets. Did you inquire about them? I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the show. I would have changed places with you in a heart beat! Heck, I would have been happy sitting in the parking lot just knowing I was that close to Garth!

    Hi!

Thanks, Ann for the offer. That is probably one of the kindest words I've heard on PG Forum.

Glad that you would have been happy in the parking lot. Guess I'm not that hung up to dry. Garth is just another singer....just like Brad Paisley or Tim McGraw. So for me just to be in his presence doesn't "hack it".

For the first time, we were not even allowed back to the gate. There was a real policeman (not Opry Security) keeping people away from the gate.

You're all very welcome for the review. I'm sure there will be plenty more coming since there were so many PGer's there. I'll do my best to get a few pictures scanned this weekend and post them. I got some good ones back from the first roll.

Carol, I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy the show. I lucked out not having anyone TOO tall in front of me, since I'm only 4'11". I hope if they do this show again, you can get much better seats and be able to see and hear it well enough.

I wish I had been around out back when Garth came over to the fence. I'm not sure when that was, but maybe I could have given him my letter at least. I'm just wondering when that was, cause I didn't leave until quite a few others had too.

Thanks Madeleine, but I can't even imagine how much mail Garth gets at GB Management. Although I have sent a couple things there. It would just mean a lot to know FOR SURE he got it. Even though I did briefly get to meet him a couple years ago, I couldn't have even begun to say everything I wanted to in the short time I got to talk to him. He's had such an impact on my life, I really want to let him know and thank him for that. I'm not really upset over it. I know there are people who have never even had the chance to see him in concert, so I sure can't complain. Garth has also given us all so much, how can I ask him to do more? It will happen when it's meant to happen.

    hey

Ann- Oh man! He was very gorgeous!! LoL. However, belive it or not, I was so stunned that he was directly in front of me, that I dont even remember much about it. I was also busy taking pictures and didnt get to see much. Stupid me. the pics didnt even turn out. But nevertheless it was GREAT to see him up close.

Lisa- I wasnt standing in the back of the building exactly. I saw where everyone was standing back there and had to move. That was mean.. but I was at the side of the place sort of. Garth came out of the door close by the side oh about 45 min to an hour after the show. I thought he went around back as well though cause when he walked out of sight from us I heard more loud cheering in the back.

My Turn for My Story :) :)

Ok, got to Nashville about 1 pm, went to the mall, then went over to wait at the theater for Garth at about 5pm....come to find out though that Garth had entered the building at 4:30. For you guys interested in EVERYTHING (as I am) I was told Garth pulled up in a Black Lexus SUV, dropped off the girls and Kelly at the side door, and drove around back, parked, and walked in with his guitars. He said Hi as he walked in and told everyone he'd see them later...no stopping, just as he walked by. I was disappointed that I missed that (I have yet to meet Garth), but I stayed in hopes that he'd come back out. Hung around outside for awhile longer, I forget when exactly, by Garth's bass player Mark Greenwood went in the building with his guitar, anyone know what he was going there?? Anyways, waited, no Garth, went inside at about 6:30.

I got to my seats which were really good (Row X, middle section), and sat there for a bit, and was quite suprised to see Garth sitting not to far behind me. Just kidding, it was the lookalike, who's pretty good. Then I got a big kick out of the ladies in front of me jumping over their seats cause they thought the lookalike was Garth, .

Then the lights dim and you see someone walk to the front of the stage, lights back up....and it's HIM. I almost died right there, I started hitting my mom and shaking when I saw him.....I couldnt believe it, I'd never been that close to him before. Now, I dont know why Garth always says he's not a great vocalist, that guy can sing. This was the best I've ever heard his voice....It sounded awesome, it was very smooth with a pureness to it....if that makes sense, I don't know how to explain it except to say it was beautiful. I couldn't take my eyes off Garth all nite, every movement, glance, smile, it's all in my head, I'll never forget it, it was so much fun. Beth did an amazing job as well...when she sang that song (i forget the name) by herself she blew me away, she did an amazing job. As did Anthony, he has a voice made to tell stories. The show went on....I kept shaking, Garth kept singing...and before I knew it it was over.

Afterwards I rushed outside to get a spot near the front of the fence to see Garth as he left. Luckily Sarah was there and I was able to get up to the front with her. We stand there for a bit and Mark Greenwood leaves with his guiter...hmmm...anyone know why he was there?? I'm very curious. And then Garth comes out and stands right in front of us. I was in shock, here he was standing a foot in front of me. He basically just said to the crowd that he wasn't able to stay and meet everyone cause his family was in from South Dakota and they were going to dinner, and he didnt think it would be fair to sign for a few and not for others, which makes sense.

Monday, we stuck around cause thanks to Jen, I was able to get into the audience of CMT MWL (billy gilman was the guest), so that was pretty cool, and we were also able to watch Chely Wright film a video, which was neat.

So that was MY Garth story , just had to share!! I know I didn't get "My Garthmoment" but one day the time will come.

Thanks for sharing your story, Allison. I appreciate all of the little details.......can't have too many of those, right? I'm curious about Mark Greenwood, too. Were you surprised by how tall Garth was when you saw him up close? I know I was the first time I saw him.

I think that's funny that he chauffered the others and then parked the car. And he even had to carry his own guitars!

    Hi Allison!
Thank you sooo much for sharing your story! Like Crackers said - I cant never have enough!!!
And about your Garth-Moment. Well, maybe you had. Maybe you looked into his eyes and he in yours - just you two and the whole world disappeared. Thats a Garth-Moment, too!
However! Be happy with what you had. Garth gave you such wonderful experiences that night! Youll never forget this!

I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
    ****************************************
    I'll never reach my destination
    If I never try
    ****************************************
    We shall be free
    ****************************************
Where your road leads I will follow!
