"Just a Friend" written by a friend

This poem was written by a close friend of mine who wanted to express their feelings and done it in this poem. They sent it to me to read and asked me to tell them what i thought about it.

They didn't want anyone else to see it because they might have been scared of what they'll say, but I talked them into letting me post it here on Planet Garth because i know all you guys here will say nice things about it. Hope you guys like it......

    "Just A Friend"
    Unannounced Author

My "sweet cheeks", my "hunny bunny", my "Romeo"...
to anyone who asks and wants to know,
I tell them that to me he is "just a friend"
If I could convince myself, this ache might end.

When I see others with what I want for myself,
I force a smile and put my feelings back on the shelf.
Every time his heart breaks because she did him wrong,
mine breaks too, but for him I have to be strong.

They all promise him the moon and stars,
when all he really wants from them is their heart.
More than "just a friend" is what I try to be,
when the next one leaves him hurt and lonely.

So I "lend him my ear" and a shoulder to lean on,
when the love she once gave him now is all gone.
Just to see him smile again ---
I rejoice in being "just a friend"

As I think about our relationship
I'm grateful for what I DO have with him.
I want him to realize that I'm not "just a friend"
but someone he can trust, thru thick and thin.

We share a bond that you cannot see
'til the end --- friends faithfully.
All I want for him to be...
is glad he has "just a friend" like me.

Whether life's sky turns gray or blue...
if he is happy, then I am too.
Support through it all right til the end,
is what it means to me to be "just a friend".

just tell me what ya all think and i'll pass your comments on to them.....

Let's rise out of this dirt
Escape from this oppression this anger and this hurt
The ignorance, intolerance, stupidity and lies
That's spreading like a virus and ruining our lives
All we need is honesty to push away this night
Lets hang on to our innocence and hold each other tight

    It's nice,Jesse.

I know how it feels when you are a close friend but you just can be a friend. I've been in this way once in my life and it's too hard.

This poems reminds me three songs I love from Paul Brandt "That's hurts" , from John Michael Montgomery "Friends" and from Alejandro Sanz "Amiga mia" ( altough I think you don't know who is the latest one).

Tell your friend that's a beautiful poem and the feelings around are so sweet.

Marga my love, I will tell them the kind words that you, Annette, and Brian have said and i'm sure they'll appreciate it.

I know how they feel too, i've been there, done that, many times and always kicked myself for it. But i'm thankful that i'm where i'm at now.
