The reason for that topic is...less than four years ago, I cringed at the sound of a steel guitar. *GASP* I know, sacrilege. And now, I can't think of living without it and the people that listen to it. SO, slap a big 180 on me, cuz that's what i did. Enjoy. (Disclaimer: Any similiraities to actual people is merely coincidence. ...or great minds think alike. ;))
© 2001 Stephanie Shade

Are there any guys still out there
who came from a small home town
Keep your eyes open for a woman
thatís gonna track you down
Maybe I should start with Oklahoma
under all that Western sky
I could search the mountains of Tennessee
or give the Texas plains a try

I wanna man who knows the curves
of a Takamine guitar
That lets music intoxicate his body
like the tap behind the bar
I wanna guy who can serenade me
with a fiddle and six strings of steel
And heís gotta know that love
means nothing if it ainít real

He should have to choose which boots to wear
when he goes out at night
He donít have to sport a Stetson
But Wranglers would be nice
And I could be his honky-tonk angel
if he swore his heart to me
I may not have grown up Country
but a cowboy is what I need

I wanna man whoís proud to admit
heís fond of a certain show
The one that started so long ago
with a home on the radio
Itís ninety-five point five at nine
if heís home on a Saturday night
And Iíll be the woman whoís curled up to him
after I hit the lights

Iíll hear his radio singiní
before I see his Chevy truck
Heíll tell me how he counted the hours
Ďtil it was time to pick me up
Heíll save the best of his sweet Southern voice
for when weíre alone at night
With two strong hands and a gentle touch
Whatever he does will feel right

He should have to choose which boots to wear
when he goes out at night
He donít have to sport a Stetson
But Wranglers would be nice
And I could be his honky-tonk angel
if he swore his heart to me
I may not have grown up Country
but a cowboy is what I need

Yeah, a country-lovin cowboy is what I need
Glad ya like it, y'all! :):):)

I just realized I made a mistake, though. I was thinking of WSM for the Opry, which is right, but I wrote the FM station instead of the AM station, which is the one that broadcasts it. *DOH!* What kind of country music fan am I?? *hangs head in shame* lol

So, I'm gonna have to change that line. It'll throw me off cuz I'm already used to the words I have down, but I'll fix it. Perhaps to:

"Itís 'straight from the heart of Nashville'
if heís home on a Saturday night"

That might work...*rubbing chin*

Thanks for the compliments!! :)
