With this....

Hard to be a husband/Hard to be a wife
You wouldn't believe the number of times
I've heard somebody say
How come some guy some handsome prince
Hasn't swept you away
But I take of on that tour bus
A different city every night
Oh, and doing what I love to do
It makes it hard to be a wife
You wouldn't believe the number of times
I've finished that myself
Folks can't understand
My heart right now is still on the self
But I'm married to my music
And I have been most my life
It makes it hard to be a husband
It makes it hard to be a wife
'Cause I'd rather play the Grand Ole Opry
Go out to dinner and a movie
Right now I'm not thinking about
A family of my own
'Cause The Band's on the stage
And I'm late for my show
There's folks who think my life is lacking
'Cause my time at home is usually spent packing
You might assume that I don't have a clue
What love's about
Oh, but I know love
And that I have no doubt
'Cause you wouldn't believe
The way it feels to hear somebody say
You song sure means a lot to me
It got me through a real tough day
And hearing words like that means
Giving up my social life
Then I got all the friends I need on that front row
And I've got all the friends I need on that back row
When we should see those folks
The less we're never home
And that makes it hard to be a wife
And hard to be a husband
And that makes it hard to be around...

Man gotta love that tune.. :):)

Tell that to George Strait, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Ty Herndon, Mark Wills, Andy Griggs, Sara Evans, Patty Loveless, Paul Brandt, John Michael Montgomery, Martina McBride and many more. There are plenty of happily married entertainers and to say that you can't be married and be an entertainer at the same time is an insult to those who are. I don't want any artist to blame the fans for their not being married. It's just rude.N

I don't think this is an insult to those that have found that special one to put up with a person placing a career infront of a family life. Fact is an entertainer IS placing family life second to the music. Every minute devoted to signing an autograph to recording and touring is a minute away from the family and I don't think anyone out there can say performers put in a fourty hour week. Same goes for CEO's and doctors that log a huge work week... they're putting career before family.
(This message has been edited by gbroadtrip)N

wow.. like this was a "Put me down post"
oviously you don't know it..
it's about your true love.. some consider it MUSIC some don't.
Did I say anything Annon, about that? NOPE.
Take it for what it's worth, there are MANY MANY Singers that are NOT married.. and THIS IS WHY.
Understand? That's what this means..
Why you always have to post negativity? *curious*

I don't think its a put down....
Its a song about love for the stage, the music, and the fans. And though some may make it, I think our Garth would tell you theres alot of truth to that songs.... Because Garth found out the hard way, yet I doubt he'd do it diffirent if he had t to do over again. It was hard for Garth to be a husban, thats at least a good deal of the reason his marriage is over.... I'm sure Sandy got sick to death of going to bed alone. A person can only say so much, and I can't say I could have stood it either. I don't care how great the guy is....
This is an awesome song!
