As with the Beatles songs, way too many to pick just one.

I don't know if I have the title right, but I would go with "Mama Loved The Roses" - his tribute song to his mother. It's so sweet.

After that, I would choose "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You."

Brian, I'm a late bloomer on Elvis. I started with the Beatles who came after him, and then after the Beatles the Monkees ruled my young teen years. In high school though it was the Moody Blues that took over that post.

The If I Can Dream doesn't jump out at me. Can you post the lyrics and I'll see if I've heard it.

But my two favorites are Suspicious Minds/Are You Lonesome Tonight.
Other than that I LOVE all his gospel stuff. I don't usually listen to that old time southern gospel music kind of stuff, but there is something about the way Elvis sings them that makes me really FEEL what he feels in those songs. You can tell his heart is really there when he sings them.N

I have to agree with what you wrote there Dale:)
There definitely is something about his voice:)

You can listen to a tidbit of "If I Can Dream Here", a song that would fit Garth as well, but that he could NEVER sing better than the KING!:)

If I Can Dream

(words & music by Brown)

There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can't my dream come true

There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won't that sun appear

We're lost in a cloud
With too much rain
We're trapped in a world
That's troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly

Deep in my heart there's a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now
Let it come true right now
Oh yeah
Wow...could you pick yet another tough one Brian!!!

I LOVE Elvis and there are way too many wonderful songs to pick...I'm listening to "Are You Lonesome Tonight" right now!! There'll never be another Elvis...never...incredible voice, talented musician and unbelievable looks! What else could you ask for? ;)

In the late hours of the night on the day he died, I tuned into a Nashville radio station and requested that song, which they played, then I cried myself to sleep.

Absoultely can't choose just one! Elvis is my kind of musician. He blurred the lines between rock, country, and r&b. Because to him, music is music. Remind you of anyone else we're all fans of?N
