Hey. I was discussing this one with a friend and she let me know that the first verse is not as clear as she'd like it to be. I realize I should be able to tell whether or not it's clear, but...doesn't matter if it's clear to me, really...it's the listeners who matter, right? I also told her this one might be harder to write since it's one of the FEW I write dealing with relationships that are completely true for me. So if you could just give a word or two on your verdict, it'd be much appreciated. Thank you :)

I was fighting that "once in a lifetime" emotion
When your friend began her introduction
Because I knew life would have a different plan in mind
My friends would never understand
my wish to shuffle the cards in fate’s hand
afraid of the possible heartache if I tried

But I’ve been wishing
on every star I see
for someone like you
to find your way to me
I’ve been waiting
waiting for you

Whether it’s fair or not why we’re apart
Circumstances separate our hearts
Reasons why we can’t go beyond "just friends"
Though intangible as they may be
they will somehow never go unseen
But hopeful patience may provide one last chance

So I’ll lay cradled
in the hands of time
Watching the moments
drift on by
I’ll keep waiting
waiting for you

(bridge)
It don’t matter how or why I’m here
My heart has found its place
And my hands will stay forever folded in prayer
Til I’m wrapped in your embrace

I’ll lay cradled
in the hands of time
watching the moments
drift on by
I’ll be waiting
waiting for you
