Hey y'all. Not that it's all that...but it felt Really good to finish the words to this one. Ya know what it feels like to sit at a keyboard with every word you want to say right at the tip of your tongue, but not budging? S'how I felt for a couple weeks. *whew* :) Hope you like it.

<br>Empty Pockets
<br>© 2000 Stephanie Shade
<br>
<br>Standing in my bedroom
<br>I lift a hand into my coat
<br>Pull out a movie ticket stub
<br>from a couple years ago
<br>I can’t imagine why I kept it
<br>but I remember well the night
<br>you placed it in my hand
<br>as the usher dimmed the lights
<br>
<br>I waltz back into reality
<br>and drop the stub in a dresser drawer
<br>I push it closed with your memory
<br>and check my pockets for any more
<br>I stumble across a matchbook
<br>Edges worn with time
<br>A missing match for every bridge I burned
<br>when you were no longer mine
<br>
<br>As I head for the door
<br>I push my hands down once more…
<br>
<br>And feel those empty pockets
<br>Just fabric against the skin
<br>Like my broken heart
<br>There’s nothing left within
<br>The remnants of your love are gone
<br>and the memories that we made
<br>Now I’m left with empty pockets
<br>and another lonely day
<br>
<br>It will be the last time tonight
<br>I’ll wish to dream of you
<br>Or spend my hours hoping
<br>that you’re dreaming of me, too
<br>My heart’s no longer burdened
<br>by things that I can’t change
<br>Freedom smiled upon my soul
<br>and handed me the reigns
<br>
<br>And as I pick my coat up off the floor
<br>I push my hands down once more…
<br>
<br>Just to feel those empty pockets
<br>filling fast with dreams
<br>Almost overflowing
<br>and bursting at the seams
<br>Tucked beneath my answered prayers
<br>are memories to be made
<br>out of these empty pockets
<br>and a brand new day
<br>
<br>"Thanks for your time",

Heehee! Thanks for all the smilies, Brian. You're a sweetheart. And don't let the song submissions bother you. Imagine the slowest process in the world, then double the time. You don't have to say you haven't heard anything every time. I understand. :)
<br>
<br>Thanks for the compliment, Kirsty! :) Glad to know I could get'cha! lol

Thanks for the kind words, Kirsty. I dunno if I'll submit it or not. It wouldn't hurt anything. On the other hand, I'm sure Garth will be wading through SO many in the pool of established songwriters, I wouldn't want to add to his task, especially with just lyrics and no music.

Okay Nash;)
<br>
<br>But I didn't realise it would take that long for them to read a song:eek:
<br>I thought they could do it in a day or two:rolleyes:
