Hey y'all. My turn, I guess. lol
I kinda feel like Garth when said he hadn't written for five years, he was nervous about his stuff...it's a similar situation with me. While I'm not putting us on the same level, I kind of understand how he felt now. I was actually asked to write this one from someone who shall remain nameless unless he agrees to be known. He gave me the starting title...so I thank him for giving me a cornerstone of sorts. See what'cha think.
Two Ways To Nowhere
© 2000 Stephanie Shade

With time growing shorter
on an ever-increasing past
I must leave now
so my memory here won’t last
No need for more pain
than my soul can make on its own
…I’ll leave quietly
They won’t even hear me go

There’ll be no U-turns in the distance
So I’m struggling to fight the resistance
deep…deep down inside of me
On the other side of this journey lies a place
Lonely freedom this heart longs to embrace
But I…must start if I’m to see
Down a two-lane road, not knowing how to get there
Two Ways to Nowhere

Turning the steering wheel
left and right
Headlights glaring
as they pass in the night
Faster and faster
as fast as I can go…

I’ll lose everything in this life
but have everything to gain
Push the skeletons back in the closet
and throw the key away
Where dreams meet reality
on a dawning horizon
I’ll turn my last corner
and drive into the sun

There’ll be no U-turns in the distance
So I’m struggling to fight the resistance
deep…deep down inside of me
On the other side of this journey there lies a place
Lonely freedom this heart longs to embrace
Thanks for you time,
