A few months ago Shania released the song "from this moment" in the netherlands. To my suprise it wasn't a duet anymore. Did she do that in the States or anywhere else too?<P>Then a few weeks ago she released "that don't impress me much". It was much more a pop song than on here CD. It is a big hit over here, but I still don't understand why she had to make the song more pop. The country version was great. I actually like that version better. <P>Does she do it in the States too or is she just afraid she won't sell anything in Europe if it is country?<P>I really would like your opinion on this. Personaly I think she's being stupid.<BR>N

It is because of us stupid europeans. the majority of europeans doesn't understand country very well (they don't understand anything) :(<BR>I have heard the songs and I think it is much better on the original album. :)<P>BrianN

Ooops I forgot to ask you something. <BR>Did you see Brian Laudrup is going to Ajax next season? :D<BR>I really hope you are an Ajax fan, if you are a Feyenoord fan I probably shouldn't have asked you this :)<P>BrianN

You know what I find laughable? Poor Bryan White did the duet "From This Moment On" with Shania. Then, for some unknown reason, she cut him out of it and made a more "pop" version, and he got absolutely no credit for the song at all. Here's where the laughable part comes in: The song was nominated for best vocal collaboration at the MCN Awards...and I never even heard the duet version played on the radio more than once! He wasn't even in the video!!! I hope that he has learned his lesson and he will never do a duet with her again...I dont mean to sound rude, believe me, but it seems like the only person Shania Twain cares about is herself!!!N

Pilgrim,<P>yes I'm defenitely for Ajax. And Brian Laudrup is coming next season. I'm really glad cause I think he is a great player.<P>About Shania, I agree with you. She probably doesn't think she can score a hit otherwise. <BR>But I don't like her vbery much anyway. I feel sorry for Bryan too. But I think he has learned his lesson.<BR>N

I wondered what happened to Brian in that song. If she did cut him out, with no credit of course bcze POP radio fans wouldn't even knew he existed, that was <b> COLD, Baby </b> burrrrr ! Typical. 'Nuff Said...N

I've heard a couple of different reasons for this, don't know if they are true or not so here goes. This I actually read in country weekly before the song was released.Shania was supposed to duet this song with popular artists of the country it was to be released in.She would have a different version in say Japan,Germany,etc..I'm not familiar with the popular artists in other countries but those of you not from U.S. know who they are talking about.About this time her world tour was starting and she never found the time to duet with all of the other artists. She decided to do it alone.Another thing I heard about the Bryan White version was that she wanted to release to POP stations and he didn't want to be on POP stations and didn't figure anyone knew who he was anyway so she released it alone.Like I said this is not necesarily fact but might explain her actions.BTW: I heard "That Don't Impress Me Much" on a top 40 station and kind of liked the dance/mix version.N

I think it was released on her CD as a Duet with Brian White and that's the way it should have stayed...I feel for Brian he should have never gotten involved with her..he sings a great part with her and she get's all the credit :(<P>Take Care<BR>Sue ;)N

I've heard both versions of "That Don't Impress Me Much", and I think it's kind of funny the way she's trying to go crossover. I mean to change a little is okay, but there are some drastic changes in the song. As if it didn't sound cheesy enough, the pop version is ridiculous! But to each his own, whatever that means. And about "From This Moment", I actually like the song better without Bryan White. With him, it sounded like one of those corny 80's duets, without him, it is one of the few Shania songs I can tolerate and actually like.N

<BR> Shania Twain? I am a country fan, I don't recognise that name!!!She left country behind her and I personally don't care what she does in pop or any other form of music. She is discracing the name of country by calling herself a "County Artist" She is not country and never will be again. I am very sorry if this makes Shania fans angry.<BR> <BR> Bryan BeattieN

As far as I'm concerned Shania is NOT a country artist. My reasoning comes strait from the horse's mouth in this week's Country Weekly. <P>"When you're on the road and you have a high profile, you're a prisoner of your career. You can't go anywhere. I basically just stay on the bus. There's not really much I can do in public" Can you see ANY OTHER country artist treat her "fans" this way? <BR>N

I agree...maybe it is hard because some fans do bug you in public, but these are the FANS, the people who make you who you are. If not for the fans, Shania wouldn't be where she's at. She should thank her lucky stars that she has THE FANS!!N

I have "The Woman In Me" cd and "Come On Over." As far as I'm concerned, she stopped being country when she released "Come On Over." Some people judge her really harshly and say things like she's stuck up, etc. I don't know her so I can't judge her. But I will say that I think she can sing OK and she has a talent for writing songs (I know her husband helped her.) I just wish she would admit she's pop.<P>AmyN

I remember seeing a part of an interview once, where she said she wouldn't define herself as definetly country, but more like a cross-over, and that she didn't know if she made a special "type" of music. I think she cares about the countrymusic, but her husband also knows how you makes a hit, and that is what we see in Europe at the moment.N

I plead the 5th. LOL<BR>Really, I can't get used to the fact that if you are listening to a country radio station and then if you switch to a pop/rock station (which I never do but hubbie does) there she is again. Should it be one or the other? That is a hard question to answer. <P>Country@Heart :)N

Shania is not Country as far as I'm concerned and it's only a matter of time before she is "pop" all the way! It's a transition period for her, that's why I think she is coming out with these pop versions of her songs! But, she is what she is, either you like her or you don't, I suppose. I like her music and don't really care if she's pop or country! Just my opinion! :)N

In case you are interrested, :o Shania is #1 in a chart voted by the listeners here in Denmark.<BR>If I am right it is the first time since Billy Ray Cyrus with Achy Breaky Heart, that a country star is #1 in DK :)<BR>The bad thing is that it is her pop versions :( and not the original album which I find very cool :)<P>BrianN

There is no doubt in my mind Shania loves to be on both pop and country charts. It gives her two different song populations in which she can sell cd's. Just as any great success in music she has found herself a great marketing mind in her husband 'Mutt'. For all those who said he isn't the difference, the bottom line is she put a cd out there without him, and it didn't sell anything, when he came along, she has been selling unbelievably. Who is the other big act right now selling huge numbers? The Backstreet Boys. Who is their producer? 'Mutt' Lange. The bottom line is he realized Shania has a beauty about her that if she is correctly portrayed in videos, she can be a success in any music, pop or country. I don't mind Shania, her music is 'ok', but the genius behind her is without a doubt her husband.N
