Does anyone agree with me when I say there's too many new singers on the radio today? I turn it on and there's always an unfamiliar voice singing. Sure it's nice to have variety, but it seems like every week there is someone new. N

OreganGBfan,
I have thought it before, but since I heard from somebody who said that the newcomers were gone all of sudden. I think your radio station might be the reason for your thought. My station loves a couple artists and you can hear their songs EVERYDAY and EVERYTIME.. the artists are: Shania (cuz' i live in Canada), Dixie Chicks, Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina and Reba..etc. I think Garth is not being played as much as they should.. :(
Before I end this thread, I think you should be happier because you can't believe how many Canadian songs they play in a day!!!! Yes, that limits the number of Garth's playing time.. :( Therefore, I always stick to my Garth's CDs..N

I agree that there are a lot of new artists out there. I don't know that I hear them as much on the radio though...usually I just change the station. However, that is the case on CMT...lots of new artists with videos! It doesn't bother me that much on the radio, as long as I can change the station or put a CD in.
I also think we've got some great new artists, like Michael Peterson & Lee Ann Womack, among others. JoDee is on her second album, but she's still new. She definately wins the Sophomore album award! I agree with you Tommy..."I'm Alright" is more than alright!
JaredN

I have to agree with the fact that every time you turn on the radio, or tune into CMT, there seems to be a new voice coming through. I, for one, don't think this is a bad thing. Just remember, our Garth was a "new voice" once upon a time himself.
I live in Canada also, and you wouldn't believe the amount of Canadian content our airwaves have to play. Get this, they play Rod Stewart on our CMT!!!! Guess I was sleeping when he announced he was going Country! LOL
Sure, there's some awsome new artists coming down the line. I have to agree with the comments on Jo Dee. "I'm Alright" should be everyone's motto.
Catch y'all around the next bend...N

I used to get mad when I heard people say this, but now I tend to agree. There are more new artists now than there ever has been, and I think it's really getting out of hand! Yes, when Garth first came out, there were a lot of new artists, but it is much worse today.
There are a lot of artists that were once "on top" that are now Missing In Action. For example: Doug Stone, Mary-Chapin Carpenter, Hal Ketchum, Ty England, Steve Wariner (but he's back now :)), John Anderson, McBride & The Ride, Mark Collie, etc. I could think of more if I really thought about it.
Maybe I am just bitter because I don't like many of the new artists (besides Dixie Chicks and Lee Ann Womack).N

I know a lot of new singers are talented...I won't deny that, but I just can't keep up with all of them. They'll be here one day and then never heard from again. (I'm mainly refering to solo acts.) In my opinion, companies are too eager to sign on a person who is "easy on the eyes" and then they just hope that person is a commercial success. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone...it wasn't my intention! :)N

Well again I agree there is a lot of new artists out there but for every type of music and for every decade it has always been the same...in the eighties there were hundreds of one hit wonders but that doesn't stop anyone..I say MORe POWER TO EM"..
anyhow as far as the Jo DEE post...you guy are Right one the Money, if you haven't seen her in concert you defintely should what a great show I rank it in my top 3.
{1 Garth, 2 Tim/ or JMM 3. JO DEE}
..that girls gotta lota energy and she has a great voice too...N

OREGONGBFAN...no need to apologize!
You make a strong point...that is accurate!
However, you just have to ignore those new artists that aren't appealing to you, and concentrate on those that you feel are going to be around for a long time.
Besides...you can always stick a tape/CD of Garth's in when those country no-names come on! :)N
