Recently, I read an article about female country artists dominating the industry right now. Yeah, I sort of agree to what they wrote because there are no doubt that Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill, Lee Ann Womack, and Joo Dee Messina are very popular. Take a look at Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain, they both are very successful in sellings. Another shocking news I just read from mr.showbiz saying that Shania's "Come on Over" has surpassed 7 million. I mean after 53 weeks on the chart, you still can find her on top 15 spot. That's incredible! I hate to admit this, but she sells better than Garth right now. I guess Shania just keeps attracting more fans..
I've noticed that Garth usually sells faster than any other artists, but hardly maintain those sells. Well, it's not just Garth, but nearly to most of the male artists today. Brooks and Dunns "if you see her and if you see him" quickly reached 1 million, but soon dropped down low...by the way, the article i read did mention that Tim McGraw still sells very well (he is one of the exceptions)
I hope I didn't offend anybody. It's just my opinon about today's country. Overall, Garth is the king of Country. There's no doubt about it!!! ^_^N

I am gonna completely disagree with you. In fact if Garth did not maintain as you described he would not be the number one selling country artist of all time?? Yes Shania is good but on Garth's first record he has sold more than 16million records. Now if you ask me I think that he is a good example of longevity....He has sold more than 100million records in the short 10 years since country music was blessed with his music.
Shania has only been here a few years and she is definetly just a fad! The first chance she got she sold out and tried to follow in Leann Rymes footsteps. Now I will give her the fact that she has surpassed her but is nowhere even close to selling like Garth!
And since I am bashing (unintentionally of course) Shania why is it that when she duo'd with Bryan White for Country she gave him credit for the song(From this moment), but when she release it to R&B she did not.....he does not have all the same lines but is still in the background. She gets all the attention and he gets NADA!?!

As you can tell I am a huge Garth fan and your comments on a Garth forum was completely just flat out wrong! If Shania is as huge as you say why not post it on PlanetShania.com? OOPS there is no such site?N

rg3237,
First of all, WELCOME TO PLANET GARTH!
Secondly, Calm down ;) As you can tell, my thread was made way back in Nov.28. At that time, I was really ticked when all my friends seemed to know Shania but noone knows Garth Brooks. Well, it is true that Shania is REALLY HOT since 95 with her "The Woman In Me". I know that you are very angry when I said the girls are dominating the industry. But hey, look at Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Reba, and Jo Dee, they are very strong in today's country. Not to mention Shania (let's forget about her because I think she is only hot looking).
C'mon, I'm one of the biggest GB FANS you can find in this planet!! Just look at the number of posts I have since last summer: 3200 posts :o You would think I'm a little nuts huh? Anyway, I just want you to know that I DO NOT have Shania's CDs, nor do I have Jo Dee's and Martina's. Do you know why? It's because after buying a couple non-GB CDs, I found myself not listening to them. I ONLY LISTEN TO GARTH'S!!
Hey, if you were here earlier, you would know that I'm also a GB artist. I drew quite a few GB potraits already. If you're interested in seeing them, you can go to http://members.tripod.com/AzYankee/page3.html Just don't forget to give me your 7-cents on my drawings.
Well, now Chris Gaines is on his way to the top on POP chart, so it would be really nice to let my friends know that Garth CAN BE POP TOO!!
Tommy
PS: by the way, you won't any Chinese GB fans don't you? ;) Well, now you just met one :oN

Hey Tommy! how does it feel getting flamed because of an old post ;)?
Anyway I have to agree with you about what you wrote :)
Nothing have changed much since November last year, except Shania have been #1 in Denmark and i have been one of the lucky ones to get her album :D
Look at "How Do I Live" correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that the most selling single ever :) I think I have read that somewhere :)
Now Dixie Chicks looks to be on the way and Faith Hill is for sure :)
But Garth is still #1 in total sellings :)
Brian
PS. A Planet Shania would be very very cool :D :D :DN
