Hey,
I had a cousin of mine give me guitar lessons a while back (but I haven't been practising as much as I should :o) and I have been totally amazed with how all these guitar players can move their fingers so fast from chord to chord. Does it get to where it's like second nature or what?
-AliciaN

I hope so, because I have to learn how as well. lol
I figure these guys and gals play ALL the time, so it can't help but become second nature.
NashN

Once you play a chord enough it gets engrained in your hand and you can do it on command. As you learn songs the sequence works the same way. Also some chords like say Cmaj and A minor you move one or two fingers to get to so changing is extremely easy if you learn the short cuts like that. The best thing you can do is keep that guitar with you, carry it around the house play it while you're on the phone....eventually you'll be able to rattle off lead licks and chord progressions without thinking about it at all, just get used to it, like riding a bike or driving. When you start out at guitar you always feel like you suck but once you get to the point where guitar is second nature you'll always having something to lean on to boost your confidence when really tricky stuff makes you feel like you suck again :) anyways....KEEP AT IT and good luck. Well, let's see...You wanna know, "is it hard"?? Hmm...Well, I just got my guitar on December 19th, not that long ago. But my grandpa and my uncle are really good at it. So at Christmas, I had them show me the basic chords, and I got a book. It shows me where your fingers should be on each chord, kinda like a chord chart I guess. Well, I practiced those for a while, and then I got the GB Limited Series "music" book. I don't know how else to put that. It's really cool b/c it tells you which chords to hit at what times. I LOVE IT! But to answer your question, yes, it takes a lot of practice, but it's well worth it!! ;)
RachelN
