Coming Soon.... the new version of The PG Forums

The newest version of the Planet Garth Forums is almost here. This isn't a regular upgrade to the existing software that runs the forums. It's an entirely new bulletin board engine that has been built from the ground up.<P>This new system has been in development for the last several months (in fact, nearly a year), and will make it's public debut sometime during the week of June 12.<P><B>First... what you shouldn't expect to see.</B><BR>Any cosmetic changes in the style and design of the forums. I designed the new system to look as similar to the existing one as possible.<P><B>What you will see</B><BR>New features :). We won't go into detail now, we'll be releasing much more details in the next week. However, there are several major features, and many minor ones that will make your experience on The PG Forums much easier and hopefully more enjoyable.<P>We will tell you this much... the much requested edit feature is included. N

Brian,<P>I haven't seen any difference from the download time on the new forums and this one at all.. actually it seems to be showing the pages faster.. but we'll have to see once the advertising gets put on it :)<P>JasonN

No there will be no redesign. Everything will look the same.<P>You will not need to reregister as your accounts will be transferred. However, your total posts cannot be converted. So everyone will start at zero.N

Actually the registration process has been redone as well. There is one more small step involved, but I think the overall process has been simplified. You can choose your own password at the time of registration, instead of having one emailed to you, then changing it to what you want later.N

Darn, darn, darn....passwords, registration, it's not a complaint - it's personal stupidity about computers. (Is there a support group for this - sure there 'tis, probably online but you need to register and know your password)<P>Hope ah don't have to know my old password - for the new Planet Garth board - cause ah don't (the computer does and it won't tell me). Plus ah never, never, never get those Emails that are suppose to tell me the password. <P>Well - just in case guys that ah lose out in the password process....it's been great gals and guys.....<P><BR>HawkN
