PG FORUM NOTICE
Time to be the bad guy. There have been things brought to my attention recently that need to be addressed.
First things first...
Conversation about Garth Brooks' marriage is off limits. No execptions. I'm sorry it has to be this way, because I know that there is innocent talk of rumors that that the rags print and how ridiculous they are. And there are those who honestly care about GB and his family and just want to hear that all the crap they have heard is false. Let me tell you a well known secret, it is false. However, because there is such a gray area between appropriate conversation and gossip about this subject, and the likely chance that the thread will detioriate into a shouting match, the entire topic is banned. Case closed.
Anything posted about Garth's marriage will be immediatley deleted by the PG Forum Staff.
Keep it clean!
The tone of several recent topics could have mistaken some that this is a porn site. Garth Brooks is a celebrity, and with that status, many females regard him as a sex symbol. However, PG is a highly respected site, and even though the authors alone are responsible for the content of their posts, Planet Garth will not lower its standards by letting this type of conversation to go on at this site. Ladies, if you want to publish your sexual fantasies about Garth go somewhere else. Garth Brooks is a happily married man. When you participate in that kind of discussion, you not only disrespect Garth Brooks, but his family as well.
BTW... the guys aren't innocent either. No retaliation posts that involve your favorite female singer. I think you know what I mean.
Everyone has the right to their opinion
I feel like we've been fighting this one forever. The Planet Garth Forums are not exclusivley for the die hard Garth fans. We welcome those who have differing opinions. You don't have to like every Garth song from every album to be a Garth fan. NEWS FLASH... You can even hate Chris Gaines, and still be a Garth fan. You should be able to discuss the fact that you don't like a song, an album, or even something that Garth did, without being blasted. If there is a thread that you don't agree with, just don't have to reply to it. GB is not perfect, people should be not be punished for pointing it out. And die hard GB fans should not be "defender's of the faith", protecting everything Garth from opposing opinion. That sounds a little weird coming from a Garth Brooks supporter. But I will defend the person voicing his opinion (respectfully), rather than one who flames that person for doing so. However I am obviously not talking about those that come to this site, who are anti-Garth, just to cause trouble. Or those who are not respectful of the environment, since this IS a Garth Brooks site.
If you see a post that that you feel is blatently distastful, or unappropriate for this site, alert the moderator immediatley. They will take care of the situation. If you reply, you are only adding fuel to the fire, and are you are in a way just as disruptive as the originator. The best reward you can give that kind of person is the attention they crave.
That is all :)
I have to apologize for the fact that I have to write this at all. As is the case most of the time, 1% of the Forum population is causing the problems that get 99% of the attention.
I have given the Forum staff the liberty to remove or close whatever they feel is appropriate, or to remove posting privledges to those that consistantly cause problems. This is for the good of everyone here at PG. I thank Monica (the Forum Administrator), and all the Moderators for their tremendous efforts in maintaining the Forums.
The Forum Administrators, and Moderators are currently working on a formal PG Forum policy that will be permanently posted on Planet Garth. We believe that this will clear up any confusion about what is and isn't allowed here. As well as make things more pleasant for everyone at the PG Forums, which is the main goal of every rule we have here.
We will put these childish problems behind us and move on.
On a lighter note…
There are a lot of things to look forward to in the coming months, I know the PG Staff is excited. We will be adding several major additions this winter, that together will consist of the biggest expansion ever on PG. The new Photo Shoot, allthough it was a smaller release in constrast to the future projects, is but the first in the new wave of changes coming soon.
Thank you
Brandon Wiesner
N

Brandon,
DON'T apologize for havin to write it. You are doing what you feel is best for PG as a whole. The sad part is, as you said, having to take the action to begin with.
You'll always be MY Sugarbritches...and I'm behind ya 110% percent.
Um...I CAN still say "WOOHOO" right???? <weg>
;)
TeresaN

Very well said, Brandon. :) I agree with your decision because PG is deteriorating to the point of not being 'PG' anymore, and I'm sure no one wants to see that happen. Don't apologize for doing what has to be done. I am just saddened and sickened that this type of no-exceptions censorship has become necessary, but that is not your fault. Good luck, and keep up the good work. :)N

I have to say that I have just bought this computer and hooked up with the internet. I did it because of my kids. PG Forum is about the only place I visit, and I congratulate you for setting these guidelines. Garth is a wonderful man who has given all of us a decade of the best music, tours, TV appearances, and more. This, of all places, should be a place where he is supported by his fans.N

first of all i don't agree with his marriage being off limits to talk about. 1. it's about him and if i'm not mistaken YOU said we have the rigts to our own opinion. so your being a hypocrite by saying you have the right to your own opinion, but you can't talk about this or that. just my opinion or is it wrong to say my opinions now.

Thanks Brandon for all you do. I agree with you 100 percent, personally I don't think its any of our business to talk about anyway so thats great.

Leann...

Of course it's not wrong to give your opinion. If you re-read Brandon's post you will see that he SAID that he knew most of the marriage posts were simply trying to clear up rumors and was nothing wrong. THE REASON it is off limits is because when it has been talked about, people could NOT keep from arguing about it. I don't just disagreeing. You were not here a year ago when Brandon had to say this. These were not just disagreements.... they were very NASTY fights.

That is why it is off limits. Brandon is not trying to keep anyone from expressing themselves... but it was one topic that generated way too much nastiness.

You have not been around enough to know, but Brandon is ANYTHING but a hypocrite. He's as fair as he knows to be, while at the same time trying to make PG a nice place for everyone. LIFE isn't FAIR... but Brandon tries to be.

When honest news accounts have been published, Brandon hasn't minded us talking about it then... as long as we don't start rumor mongering. In the words of Dragnet.... "Just the facts, Ma'am". Stick to published facts that have been verified by Garth or his people and there isn't a problem. Just stay away from "Nation Enquirer" type of stuff. When Brandon originally wrote the message a year ago, we didn't have any facts to discuss. Now there are a few... but not much.

Sorry to get on my soapbox for so long... and Brandon hardly needs me to defend him but I felt like I should say something anyway. He's a good person... a fair person... and not a hypocrite IMHO.

OK BRANDON... you can wipe that astonished expression off your face. You know I love ya... even if I can't stand your politics. *lmao*N

Snow,

this Guideline was November 1999... BEFORE Garth announced it. that is why the rule was in place.. cause it was only speculation. I think that rule has been relaxed since his announcement about it, since we've all talked about it since.
