Garth Brooks and Vince Gill Websites
Top CountryNow.Com's 1998 Fan Site Awards

New York - Planet Garth and VinceGill.com were the top
winners of the CountryNow.com 1998 Fan Site Awards,
announced today.

The CountryNow.com Fan Site Awards recognize the best
amateur and professionally designed websites devoted to
individual country music performers. VinceGill.com
(http://www.vincegill.com) took top honors in the
Professional Webmaster category. Planet Garth
(http://www.planetgarth.com) was named the best Amateur
Webmaster site.

Assisting CountryNow.com's editors, who judged both
categories, was Sawyer Brown drummer Joe Smyth, celebrity
judge for the Amateur category. Smyth, who conducts business
online for Sawyer Brown, said, "the Planet Garth site
obviously was the result of lots of hours and hard work. It
was organized great -- you don't have to 'dig' to get the
info you're looking for. The multimedia stuff was a really
nice touch. The graphics were good without being too 'busy'
-- a common complaint I have with many websites. All in all,
a real class act!"

Nominations for the Fan Site Awards were submitted by
visitors to CountryNow.com (http://www.countrynow.com), the
daily music news content service for country radio station
websites. Judges determined qualification for the Amateur
and Professional categories according to whether the sites'
webmasters received compensation for their work. Sites were
judged on writing quality, reporting, graphic design,
originality and interactivity.

"The Web has come of age as a communications medium for
country music fans," said CountryNow.com Editor in Chief Sue
Cummings. "Our winners are key players in promoting country
music online."
