I've been watching this updated countdown of the Top 100 Videos on CMT, and there are absolutely NO Garth videos in the countdown. This is all-out RIDICULOUS!

I just sat and watched 5 hours waiting for at least one Garth song and got NONE.

What a SLAP IN THE FACE!!!

HOW in the world could they forget classics like..
The Dance
The Thunder Rolls
The Red Strokes

Bad move CMT.

DanaLea

hmm- all time of country music, or all time of those put on the network? this is what the website says...

"100 GREATEST VIDEOS

CMT presents a celebration of the best clips from country's biggest stars. Featuring interviews with the artists and auteur whose talent and vision combined to create these three-minute masterpieces, 100 Greatest Videos presents a collection of the most entertaining and innovative videos ever shown on the network. In addition, 100 Greatest Videos will also present exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage from the actual sets that will provide insight into the often arduous task of filmmaking while revealing lighter moments with the artists, actors and directors. CMT's 100 Greatest Videos: An anthology that's sure to bring back memories and perhaps, create even more. Check out the list of the top country music videos now."

interesting- gotta look at their list...

That is the 2004 list, the one last night was brand new. And Garth was NOT in the top 10. He did not even make the list in fact.

Skywise
04-06-2008, 11:33 AM
then what was the new list?

and honestly, does it make that much of a difference if it's a simply a 'video list'... if it's from (the majority) the recent bit of time?

the list I gave came off of cmt.com, so unless they've updated it (and where's the updated list if they did) who knows... :D

DanaLea

I don't know, I find it all very odd. As does some other fans from the MB on CMT.

But I watched and there were brand new videos and when I hit info it said "NEW".

And Garth did not make the list at all...

Is someone at CMT mad at him?? I Mean how do you go from 3 in the top 10 to NONE in 4 years?

Plus..his message board ON CMT is closed now.

Well, thanks for saving me time. I was going to sit through this Top 100 video thing to watch for Garth, but apparently there aren't going to be any. My guess would be the big-shots at CMT are angry at Garth for endorsing GAC so much. Forget CMT... They're a bunch of sell-outs. GAC is where the MUSIC'S at.

What was the deal!? I was waiting for "Thunder Rolls" to be number one!

I expected them to cut back, just because he's made so many that are amazing. I surely expect "The Red Strokes" to be in there too!

I was amazed how low Brad Paisley's "Celebrity" was.

What a bunch of BS...this has got to be political.

#6...what the heck is up with that! The Dixie Chics???

What about The Change? I still can't watch it without getting emotional.
The Thunder Rolls? Standing Outside the Fire? THE RED STROKES?

That list makes no sense at all...unless, like I said, it's all politics!

Skywise
04-07-2008, 12:27 AM
maybe I'm just not on the same 'CMT' type of level as some, but the biggest thing that comes to my mind/lips with this (after thinking about it) is:

Who the heck cares?

its' just a video list- yes, the Ditzy twits are at #6... again, (in the end) who cares?

There are a lot of videos- this is one list- by one channel- at one snapshot in time..

GAC could have a list sure- if they put Garth all over it, there would be a lot happy, but would there not be an inkling of suspicion due to his connection(s) to the network now?

Sorry, but some things are just not that worth getting riled up about....

at least that's how I see it...

I think that most of us feel that credit has not been given where credit is due. You have the biggest act ever in country music and he is ignored?? I think even non-fans could see the discrepancy in the list. Politics.

Skywise
04-07-2008, 02:19 PM
an interesting idea, but what would the 'politics' be?

are people mad that Garth:

didn't make more videos
retired
did Chris Gaines
had a charity
fought the 'power system' as it were nashville wise
played hardball with his record label (and succeeded)

or is it that Garth (to some at CMT)

isn't what he once was
is 'old'
doesn't represent their demographic as much

or is it a conspiracy theory from opry members who think he should be there?

or, is it GAC vs CMT?

and just possibly, could it be (however likely/unlikely :D) that the lists are diff. or he's 'omitted' accidentally...

there are too many avenues...

I'll stick w/ "who cares? it's simply one list"... it's not that big a deal

lucaswynne
04-07-2008, 10:53 PM
The big deal is Garth is the biggest selling solo artist of all time and CMT isn't even willing to put him in the top 100 videos.

Skywise
04-08-2008, 12:57 AM
it's possible (to quote star wars, "however unlikely") that being the top solo artist of all time does not equate to a top 100 video of all time... they don't have to co-exist...

it's still not that big a deal...

Haven't posted in quite awhile, read frequently on here though. If all the Garth fans quit watching CMT specials or CMT all together because of this, I think it would be a big deal to CMT!

Skywise

No, we'd have to get the ones that fill out the Nielsen ratings to stop marking them!

that wouldn't work in a million years.

just being realistic.

Garth fans are more than likely nowhere even near the majority of CMT's demographic anyway

Cablevision added CMT a few months ago. I have never seen anything Garth related on this station. Not watching CMT won't be a problem for me.

Well any real Garth fan has the DVD's to watch him. If you want to watch anyone elses videos either watch GAC or go to GAC's web site to watch them. Really it would not be that hard to do. Don't care about any demographic areas, I posted for Garth fans.

Exactly. TUH has all the Garth videos you need. Usually I watch GAC and if I really want to see a video, it's probably on youtube.
