"This paper has been very kind to Garth over the years, here is thier latest story, very interesting, it goes for two pages, so make sure you click on page two, and also write to the author of the piece"

FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- GARTH BROOKS doesn't own a BlackBerry. He's dismayed by musicians who use click-tracks to keep the beat and auto-tuning to stay on pitch. Until recently, he recorded his albums on analog tape. Still, the 45-year-old singer is a modern guy, sidestepping his publicist to set up his own interviews by e-mail. Given a choice, though, he'll reach out the semi-old fashioned way: via cellphone, better for cracking jokes and asking about a caller's kids.

"Technology scares me," Brooks said Tuesday during a lengthy chat in a cozy conference room at Texas Jet, an executive terminal in Meacham International Airport. His schedule that day was taking him to nearby Cook Children's Medical Center, where he and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman would christen a high-tech play space cosponsored by their charities. Brooks laughed at his own comment, not quite believable given the jet-setting lifestyle he's maintained even in the midst of his much-publicized retirement.

a very very good article!

"technology scares me"... maybe that's more at teh core of his not going digital w/ his sales than what he's told the press, etc.. (itunes garth- the future of music is online..)

still, a great article to read re: Garth!

He may even revive the Chris Gaines project, which stalled after the 1999 album he recorded under the pseudonym flopped.

I really hate when people say that Chris Gaines project was a flop. Their are hundreds of artists who would kill to sell 3 million CDs. I know compared to his other music it sold less but rerelease it to the public and see how it does. Let it stay out in the public eye as a catalog item. JMHO

Thanks for reading all the way in New Jersey, Maggie! Glad you liked the piece.
And let folks know that we'll be posting more quotes from Garth on our blog, Soundboard, every day this week. I couldn't fit them all in the feature!

Hey, Picked up the Sunday LA Times Preview Edition and the Garth article is great. It's teased on the cover and then you get to the Arts & Music page and almost the entire front page is a photo of Garth standing in a cool looking stairwell and the story jumps inside and takes up almost an entire page with a photo of him playing video games with kids and Troy Aikmen watching. Worth picking up if you can get the LA Times.

Wonder if the duet album might not end up including something with Allie Colleen?
