Here's a CMT blog about Garth's CRS visit:

Brooks recognizes the importance of country radio in his career, so it was no surprise that his latest CRS appearance came after releasing some new singles from his recently released boxed set, The Ultimate Hits. His CRS involvement was to consist of a Q&A session with Nashville radio personality Gerry House. As a bonus, one of the CRS attendees was also to be selected to sing a song onstage with Brooks. That prize went to Steve Ferguson, music director and morning show host at WTHO-FM, a 5,126-watt station in the small town of Thomson, Ga.

Also from cmt.com
Garth Brooks performed four of his hits, reflected on his past and dispensed some advice to record producers during his Wednesday morning (March 5) appearance at Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.

Brooks' Q&A session with Nashville radio personality Gerry House was one of the highlights of the 39th annual CRS, a three-day conference of country radio's decision-makers. However, the crowd attending the 10 a.m. session at the Nashville Convention Center was not expecting Brooks to perform with his full band.Full article here (http://www.cmt.com/news/country-music/1582856/garth-brooks-performs-reflects-and-advises-at-crs-appearance.jhtml). There's a link at the bottom of the article to "pictures" of Garth at the session, but so far there is only one there, in addition to the one accompanying the article.

I love GB, but I wish the man would wear hoodies that FIT him instead of a size (or 2) too big!

Garth's keeping himself relevant. I'm sure there's always a bit of a fear that radio will forget about you too, something Garth surely doesn't have to worry about - but I bet he still does.

"Although Brooks continues to promote his latest boxed set, The Ultimate Hits, he told House he's working on some screenplays for possible films. "I haven't got anything green-lit yet," he said."

Garth is working on screenplays .. waiting to hear more about this :)

I usually never want to hear anyone sing The Dance except Garth but this I think I might enjoy.
Thanks Tammy

Singing harmony is just background vocals... but I highly doubt ANYTHING that comes out of Trisha's mouth can really be considered background vocals! Her voice is just so powerful.

Garth has been working on screen plays since he retired... I don't really think that endeavor is going anywhere fast. It isn't that I doubt his talent... more that I don't think he is working paticurally hard at it. Just kind of a part time hobby... I'd love to read them anyway though.

I heard he's been doing other things since he's retired too. Rumor has it he's working dilligently to get a record deal for a strapping young man named Lucas from North Dakota, but that's just speculation of course. ;) Haha, just kidding.

In all seriousness though, I wonder if studios aren't a little worried to work with him after the Chris Gaines thing. I also wonder if he's actually trying to pitch these or if it's more of a hobby. If anybody's interested in giving it a shot as their own hobby, I'd highly suggest Celtx: http://www.celtx.com/ It's freeware for script writing. I've used it to write some school things, but nothing else really. It's really handy though.

I love GB, but I wish the man would wear hoodies that FIT him instead of a size (or 2) too big!

Garth could wear a gunny sack and I'd be fine with it. A size or two too big if it makes Garth feel comfortable and relaxed I am all for it. He tortures his *boys* for the sake of giving us women what we like when he wears his Wranglers two sizes too small.....but IMHO, they fit perrrrrrrrfect!!

I never noticed Garth wore his hoodies too big :) guess I focus more on those wranglers that fit him just right :) The Man does like to keep his fans happy.

Both of these links will take you to pictures of Garth at CRS that someone was kind enough to post on Flickr. No complaints from me on the hoodie! Love the baby blue to match his baby blues!!

Garth owes a LOT of his success to radio, but he sure knows how to work the DJ's! Haha, they all love him.

Hoodies are supposed to fit loose, I was just wearing one today because it's finally above 10 degrees. 25 degrees and out with the winter jackets, in with the hoodies, that's North Dakota for you!

The thing I find funny about these photos is everybody is shorter than Garth! Does anybody actually know how tall he is? I've heard height ranges from 5'6" (which I doubt, because that's about Kenny Chesney's height) to 6'3" (which sounds too tall).

Here's the way I'm going to GUESS (heavy on the guess) his height... one of my friends told me Jewel is 5'8" and this photo:
http://a62.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/49/l_f77e8718cb64e09d1af477e7d862e1cd.jpg
shows Jewel as taller than Scott Borchetta (ceo of Big Machine).
Reasoning that the following pair of footwear being worn by Garth....
http://flickr.com/photos/aristopr/2312890752/in/set-72157604048964900/
is more a boot than a shoe and Garth appears to be taller than Scott Borchetta...
http://flickr.com/photos/aristopr/2312065925/in/set-72157604048964900/
my conductive reasoning leads me to believe somewhere between 5'9" and 5'11" barefooted. Hm, am I at least close? If not, I guess private investigator is out of my career choices! Haha.

I'm glad that someone asked this question. I'd like to know too. From the pit he looked to be about 7' tall, however, storming the stage in OKC he looked much shorter...but then I got lost in those blue eyes and that face and then the room started spinning and he was gone when I regained consciousness.
All I know he's he's got to be at least a foot taller than Kenney whoever. He's not short...somewhere between just right and perfect.

I believe I read that Garth is 6'1"

That almost seems too tall, doesn't it?

Ok, next person here that meets Garth - don't say something like "I'm a HUGE fan" or "You're amazing" just give him a glare, belly up, and say "How tall are you cowboy?" It would become much more dramatic if you spit some chew on his boot, but that's optional. :p

I stood next to Garth and had my picture taken. I was in tennis shoes and so was he. I am 6' tall and he stood 1-2" taller than me so he is 6'1" or at least 6'2" in cowboy boots.

I too have had my picture taken with Garth.

I would have to disagree that he is over 6 foot.

I am 5'10" and he only towered over me by an inch. So I think he's about 5'11" with his cowboy boots on.

I think his cowboy hat made him look much taller than he really is, since it does stick up considerably more.

I think the average pair of boots lifts you up 1-2 inches, based on my boots.

We're going to get to the bottom of this!

We've got the range narrowed in now at least.

An internet search found me this discussion of people debating his height:
http://www.celebheights.com/s/Garth-Brooks-1239.html

Looking at him standing next to Mr. Borchetta, I don't believe Garth to be in the 6 foot range. One person on there said when he went to spring training he was 5'10.5" which I think might be pretty close, if not dead-on. But I can't find the spring training info from any official site!

Haha, the drama to finding this out!

Lucas,
If you need someone to measure Garth I'd be more than happy to volunteer for that job :)

Garth has stated he's 6'1"; seeing him next to Ms Yearwood (who is 5'9"), him in boots and her in 3 inch heels, I believe him. Also when he was on GMA Diane Sawyer commented on how tall he was.

Look at shoulder height rather than head height; hats and hair can be deceiving!

Well, I kinda provided proof of how tall he is when standing next to me. (See photo above.)

And as I stated, I'm 5'10".

Is the picture not enough proof or something???

I still say he's 5'11". Once again, see picture above. [-X

I thought me posting a pic. would give "proof" of how tall Garth is.
