Just heard on the radio that Johnny Carson passed away in his sleep last night...the end of an era. I remember his earlier years when he was the host of Who Do You Trust? A great comedian...

For as far back as I could remember, my dad would watch the evening news and Carson's monologue. Didn't stay up late enough to watch the show, but wouldn't miss the monologue.

It's interesting... I didn't know Johnny was sick (if he was). He has been SO out of the public spotlight.

I really appreciate the families of folks like Ronald Reagan and Johnny Carson. They retired... they retreated... and we were allowed to remember them not as sick, frail, or weak old men, but as the vibrant personalities that we last saw.

I would imagine Leno will do something nice on his show Monday night, I bet that will be worth setting the VCR for.

My mother watched him religiously!! When my sister was a baby she didn't sleep well and she would say she watched Cohnny Jarson with mom!!

You are right Paula!! The end of an era.... That's been happening a lot lately. :(

I never watched Johnny, I was about 11 or so when he went off the air, but I always watch when shows show all his skits and monologues. He was a great entertainer. I love Jay, but no one will replace Johnny. As for Monday's episode, I recorded it. It was a very moving tribute. I'd love to have all 'Tonight Show' DVD's with Carson. I always loved all the animal skits. Very funny:)
