I haven't been here in ages, but I was uploading my pictures to Ofoto tonight, and thought I'd share them here. I know there are some Gretchen fans on the Planet. ;)
I took Delaynie to her very first "real" concert a couple of weeks ago. My daughter is a HUGE Gretchen Wilson fan. Yes, I live in constant fear that she's going to break out in "Let me get a big HELL YEAH from the redneck girls like me!" one day during the middle of chapel and get kicked out of private school.
So, Gretchen was opening for Kenny Chesney here in Nashville. And being the hip mom that I am... I took her.
OMG she had a BLAST! Well, we both did.
First of all, she made an "I (heart) Gretchen" sign. We walked in and they were handing out plastic leis, which she thought was cool. Then I surprised her with the news that we were going backstage to MEET Gretchen. My 7 year old turned into a pogo stick, bouncing up and down with a grin as wide as the arena.
Delaynie was in 7th heaven, and wasn't shy at all around her. Gretchen smiled when Laynie showed her the sign, and laughed when she told her that the whole reason she liked her was because of the redneck woman song. She signed a picture for her, and Laynie thought it was cool that she asked her how to spell her name. She even got down on her knees to have her picture taken with her. Delaynie thought it was the coolest thing in the world.
She was totally a concert chick during the show too. Uncle Kracker opened, and she was on her feet screaming for him, even though she only knew 2 of his songs. He was pretty good, I was pleasantly surprised. She screamed and screamed and screamed for Gretchen.
By the time Kenny came on she was worn out, about 4 songs in she was ready to go, LOL. I made her sit on my lap and stay longer, although we left when he left before coming back for the encore. His show was good, gosh he's got a lot of hits.
My photos are here if you'd like to see the concert chick in action. :D
