This is a very interesting read on the prices artists get paid to bring their show in to town. Dale, I especially thought you'd find this interesting! :)

I especially found the difference between the big names surprising. (Although it should be noted that B&D's figure is from 2 years prior)

Brooks & Dunn = $125,000
Alan Jackson = $300,000
Tim McGraw = $450,000
Dixie Chicks = $600,000
George Strait = $750,000

Interesting article. I wonder what their fees are for a large auditorium or stadium venue?

Of course, superstars create super demand for tickets. The most popular show at the fair by far was Garth Brooks in 1992. Heydenreich said at least half of the requests for tickets had to be returned because the show sold out so quickly. Tickets were gone even before that year's brochure was printed.

That's my boy! :)

Nope. Our MCFA can't afford any of those. But it didn't stop me from at least inviting Alan and his family out to our fair in Feb.

Tonight my friend Steve Rose was saying how it bugs him when other musicians bale out of their committment to a band or a schedualled show when offered more money doing something else. He himself often turns down thousands in favor of lesser pay in the hundreds. He keeps his committments and his bank account shows it he said laughingly. But I thanked him. For doing what's right. And he's bragging on me now as "#1 Fan". I guess we're in this fight together.

I look forward to reading this article later Joyce. But right now I'm everywhere! I'll be back!
