Hi All,

Was surfing around the news and found this story, its cool that the Foundation is involved in so many different events.

Gainesville: Sign-ups under way for benefit run

Prevent Child Abuse Gainesville is sponsoring the second annual Run for the Children Sunday at Gainesville College.

The 1-mile run begins at 2 p.m., and the 5K run begins at 2:30 p.m. Entry fee for an adult is $18. Fees for children 12 and younger are $12 each. The maximum family rate is $54.

Applications are available at the Prevent Child Abuse Gainesville office at 615-A Oak St. N.W. All runners receive a free T-shirt and refreshments.

Contact: (770) 287-3071.

Gainesville: Whiter teeth bring smiles to children's charity

Crown Council's annual Smiles for Life campaign will continue through June 30. Dentist Norman Peets is donating 100 percent of the cost for tooth whitening to children's charities during the campaign.

The Crown Council is an alliance of U.S. and Canadian dental teams committed to promoting oral health, fighting oral cancer and serving their communities. Smiles for Life Foundation is the children's charity organization of the Crown Council, and the foundation works in conjunction with Garth Brooks' Teammates for Kids Foundation.

Crown Council dentists charge less than their normal fee for the whitening procedure during the campaign, and the dentists have raised almost $14 million for charities since 1998.

That's great that the organization is getting more press. I assume the run, though, is not affiliated with Teammates.
