I've never heard of this publication but assume it's something that people in the music industry know about. Joyce, do you have access to it so we can find out when these will be given out? This was at countrystars.com -
When trade publication New Music Weekly announced the nominees for its 2003 Awards this past Friday, HitPros Records artist Chad Simmons had received nominations in two categories. Simmons was nominated in the category of Male Artist of the Year, where he was the only independent label artist to be nominated. He also received a nomination in the Single of The Year category for his debut single "Heaven Sent." "Heaven Sent," co-written by GARTH BROOKS, is the title track from the album released in the fall of 2002.I haven't located a copy of this CD in the barren Northeast.:( Has anyone else picked one up?

Heaven Sent
Written by Garth Brooks / Jennifer Pierce
Recorded by Chad Simmons

We pulled into Tulsa
Our last big rodeo
Ten years on the circuit
Now a few hard rides to go.
That bull could win the money
If I could last the last event
I’d drawn 2,000 pounds of Hell
His name was Heaven Sent.

We laid out in our trailer beds
In the dead of the night
Thought about tomorrow
I had one more bull to fight
Eight seconds to that buzzer
We both knew what that meant
We could buy our ranch in Texas
And we’d name it Heaven Sent.

You’ve been with me through it all,
You’ve seen me ride
You’ve watched me fall
The highs and lows of rodeos
Is how our lives were spent
Now there’s one more round to go
One more bull and one last show
If I could just hang on to
Heaven Sent.

A month before in old Cheyenne
That raging bull came down
He busted up some cowboys
and he killed old Joe our clown
there’s black marks by his name
Lord, I couldn’t be content
Till I showed that devil bull who’s boss
And rode ole’ Heaven Sent.

They called my name, I said a prayer
"God help me one last time."
I climbed down on that killer bull
With living on my mind
I swore I’d ride that ton of Hell
No matter where he went
Then I heard the sound
I’d rode ole’ Heaven Sent.

You’ve been with me through it all,
You’ve seen me ride
You’ve seen me fall
The highs and lows of the rodeos
Of how our time were spent
Now there’s no more rounds to go
No bad bulls and no more throws.
Thank God that I hung on to
Heaven Sent.

We pulled into Tulsa
For our last big rodeo
10 years on the circuit
Now, one more round to go.

Rachael :)

I looked in stores back around the time the record was released, but couldn't find anything...but then again if it's not a well-known it's impossible to find in the mass of CD's at Best Buy and WalMart.

I did a bit of searching, and you can download the MP3 of "Heaven Sent" on Chad's site:

Just go towards the bottom and it's in the right column...you can right click & "save target as" to save the .mp3 to your computer.
