YIKES!!!
I am, like, SO afraid of what ya'll are gonna say about this topic!!!
My oldest daughter is a Backstreet Boys fan, and I gotta just say, I really like their stuff. I think they have some beautiful songs and some awesome harmony, and I enjoy popping one of their CD's into the player, in the car, just about as much as Davina does. What can I say, go ahead, throw the stones! ;)
I took Davina to a concert of theirs, I think it was about a year and a half ago, if I remember right, maybe a year more than that. In order to get some much-needed info, before the tickets went on sale, I hung out at their website for a few weeks, participating in their chats and stuff. Now, of course, there were ALL kinds in those chats, including some pretty wacked-out teenie-boppers, IMHO! But, there were some really cool people, even some who LOVE Garth too (I used my usual screename), AND there were a surprising number of middle-aged women, like myself, who like the Boys and their music. That made me feel better. AND... I LOVED going to their concert.! For all the noise that is made about these guys, the disrespect just cuz they put out, SUPPOSEDLY, bubble-gum music, I got to thinking about all of the VERY HARD WORK that these guys put into their shows, and that, alone, earned them a TON of respect, in my eyes. Just think about it, for every new year, every new tour, they COME UP WITH new choreography for each song that they perform, and then practice it until they've got it right, ALL THE WHILE they are currently performing, night after night, the stuff that they are currently doing, as well!!! I don't know, thinking it through, in my mind, all that they do, it just sorta blew me away.
ANYWAY...
Didn't mean to get into ALL of that! ;) Nick Carter, the cute, young blondie from THE BOYS, just released his first solo album, on Tuesday. Davina has been listening to it almost non-stop for the past two days or so, and a few of those times it was in the car, or on our stereo, or the computer, where I've been able to hear it. I REALLY LIKE IT!!! It's very different from the boys' stuff, obviously, because you don't get the sweet, group harmony. It has a lot of variety in the styles of the songs, it's just fun to listen to some, plus there are some pretty songs. Anyway, I hope it does well, and doesn't 'miss out' because of stupid, bad publicity that typically comes along with someone young, like Nick, trying to go solo and show what he's got. It's pretty cool music and really deserves a good listen. Check it out! :)

Oh, yeah, and at Target, maybe everywhere else, too, I don't know, it comes with a DVD that has some pretty in-depth interviews and stuff like that. I swear, for a young guy who can look so cute and/or so hot, in some of his still photos, and on stage, when he's just hangin' out, bein' Nick, he's very down to earth, almost GOOFY! ;) It's fun, watching and listening to him talk. I have NO PROBLEM with my daughter lovin' this guy, I think he's someone most moms would be cool with having their daughter hang out with. I read the book that his mom wrote (they seem like very decent people, btw), and it was interesting to find out that, when Nick was first trying to 'make it' in the business, how he was shunned and misunderstood, at his school, for being so different. He WAS NOT popular, and didn't really have too many friends, because he was always taking off, here and there, to go to auditions and stuff, and, as kids (and adults, for that matter) can often be, they just thought he was weird. How do they like 'im, now, eh?
