in this drought,

give me all ya got

She said she’s doin fine

When he called to find out
How she’s doin,
She said she was
‘Just fine’

Then the topic turned to
Their old friends
They had shared along
Their lives

Then he asked again
How she really was
He heard her pause
Then say ‘okey’

And she wonders as she
Said goodbye
Could he tell
That she was lyin?

Could he hear the
Tears within her voice
The loneliness, pain
the longing?

Could he hear how
Much she misses him
Could he tell that
She was lyin?

He’s in her dreams
No day goes by
It won’t fade away
With time

Does he know her
Like she hopes he does
Her rock, her Light,
Her only Love

She can only hope this time . . .

Could he tell that she was lying?

deAnnalynn, I love this! The one from the past who holds her heart knows everything about her, all her secrets hidden inside. And, he especially wants to give her that drink of water she craves IF she would only trust him enough to finally ask. ;)

hey

i dont know why, but i read this thing five times in a row. i kept reading it and reading it. i love the last line "could he tell that she was lying". I think you should take that, and go more into the story with it. Is he a truck driver, and her a stay at home wife? Tell me more about what leads up to this?
