Shania Twain is realsing the first single off her new CD next month. The CD it self will be released in November. This is too

I love Shania.... and other Shania fans here at PG?

I read that this cd has 19 songs on it! Can that be right? Didn't she set some sort of record with Come On Over for the most number of singles released off one album or something? Think she's trying to break her record?

I'm not a huge Shania fan but I do enjoy hearing her on the radio, and will be interested to see what direction her new music takes, and how motherhood influences her career.

I only have ever had one little Shania moment, and I do mean little. In 2000 I was working on the red carpet at the CMA awards when she arrived - it was the first (and only) time I'd seen her in person. It was like the whole place just STOPPED when she walked up - and there was a couple of hundred people back there. She just captivated everyone's attention with this amazing presence. And the awesome thing was - she had such... grace. Carried herself with such class, a real warm smile.

And good heavens is she a teeny tiny thing!

This was taken back in the photo room later that same night.

Joyce,

That's nice to hear - I'm not a huge fan of her music either, but noone can deny the impact she's had on country music and music in general...or that she is a captivating performer...and I agree, it will be interesting to see where the music goes next!

As far as the singles thing goes - I think that way too many artists - don't release ENOUGH singles off their albums...I mean, for most of the albums I have my favorite song is never released as a single (OK, so I've got poor taste in music-lol) It seems like there is way too much of a rush for new albums instead of enjoying every last bit of what is out there already.

OK - this has nothing to do with Shania, so I'll quit now *grin*

No Kerry - that means you have good taste in music! You don't go for what has commercial mass appeal.

Noooooooo....

Sorry. I'm not a fan of Shania (her 'You've Got A Way' remix on Notting Hill was nice though)

She represents all that's wrong with the commercialism of country - the remixed 'European friendly' version of Come On Over just grates on me.

Here, here! Angela. I think she has a pleasant enough voice; she's attractive with a nice figure. She just isn't country at all. I have to say she's one of the few people on CMT/GAC that I actually turn the channel; something about her just hits a huge discord with me.

I heard that she is releasing three versions of her new CD, Country, Pop, and International version.

I also heard that she will be holding a press conference in Switzerland to sing the first single live, and send it to radio.

She has two CMT specials coming up as well.

I have no problem with her doing the 3 versions, but I don't like that all the sales will go under the Country version like "Come On Over" did. They should be counted seperately for each genre. I still think Garth's "No Fences" is the #1 COUNTRY album as far as sales go!

Should be interesting with Faith and Shania both having new CD's.

~Ann~ <- who isn't a fan of either, but I'll put my money on Shania.

Do I *ever* agree with this statement! IMO, if the musical content has been altered by remixing, , the CD should be released with a different catalogue number and be counted as a different item altogether, as it's not the original product (the only exceptions to this being if the differences are due to errors which weren't spotted til the CD was released, or extra tracks with no other alteration to the original product still contained on the disc). But to clarify, this should *not* apply where only the cover has been changed and the musical content is still the same, so Double Live is safe on that basis!

Well just to play devil's advocate here, country music can use every sale they get. It is too bad it hurts our man, but....

Would you want the 2 million copies of the Chris Gaines album to go under pop music sales?

Yes, Joyce. I think they should. It is a pop album. Garth didn't want it to compete with country artists or sales. The final count still belongs to Garth.

I agree with Ann. The Chris Gaines stuff was never supposed to be in the country catagory. So, what happened?

Although, I agree with Angela and Ann, from a scrictly musical POV I think since the lyrics and the basic musical tunes are the same she should be allowed to call all the CDs the same. The only difference is the "arrangement" of the music.

No matter who cuts a song the songwriter will still get the royalties for that song no matter how it is arranged. That's why the same song can sound completely different depending on the artist.

Take "Piece of My Heart" (I heard it by Janis Joplin yesterday so it's fresh in my mind). It was cut by Janis Joplin and Faith Hill and you wouldn't know it was the same song.

People accuse Garth of using marketing ploys so why can't Shania? It's interesting to see that at least she knows that musical tastes ARE different depending on where you live.

I've heard Shania say in an interview that women don't like her because men love her............I thought that was a little tacky but just my humble O'

I'm not fond of too much except that Whose bed have your boots been under.....that reminds me of a friend of mine lol

but I'll give any new music a proper listen without prejudice....

I'll reserve my judgement until after I hear it.
