TRISHA YEARWOOD PRESENTED WITH HONOR SOCIETY AWARD

Nashville, TN - Multi-platinum recording artist Trisha Yearwood was honored April 4, 2002 in Nashville with Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society's Most Distinguished Alumna Award for 2002 at their annual international convention.

Nominated by her Phi Theta Kappa chapter, Lambda Alpha, at Young Harris College in Georgia, Yearwood attended Young Harris prior to graduating from Belmont University with a Bachelors Degree in Music Business. Established in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is the International Academic Honor Society of two-year colleges and is the sister organization of Phi Beta Kappa.

"Alumni who have provided substantive contributions towards improving the quality of life on national or international levels through professional or personal endeavors are selected for this singular recognition," says Phi Theta Kappa Executive Director Rod Risley.

Past recipients have included Former United Nations Ambassador Jeane J. Kirkpatrick; Astronaut Fred Haise, Apollo XIII; Dr. William Roper, director, U.S. Centers for Disease Control; H. Ross Perot, entrepreneur; Rudy Gatlin, entertainer; Dr. Sylvia Earle, oceanographer; and the Honorable Clarence Harmon, former Mayor, City of St. Louis.

Yearwood's new single "Squeeze Me In" from her latest album, Inside Out, is currently Top 15 on the country singles chart.

Thanks Joyce, that's an amazing list of previous recipients, Trisha's in good company. What a great honor for Trisha. I wish there was video of that ceremony, would be fun to watch and listen to her acceptance speech.

Very sweet. I'm so glad Trisha was recognized and honored. I'm sure she was very happy to join such wonderful company! Terry, I'm with you, I sure wish I could have seen her accept the award, gracious and sweet as always I'm sure.
