Brooks Enlists Hockey Players
-- Garth Brooks has played with the San Diego Padres in spring training, and there's a pretty good chance he'll suit up for the Colorado Rockies this spring. But for now, he's getting NHL players involved in fund-raising for his Teammates for Kids Foundation.

Players donate a certain amount of money based on goals scored, assists, shots, power-play goals, team wins and goaltender saves and wins.

"I'm amazed at how these guys don't seem to even flinch -- 'Oh, is it kids? Sure.' And it's so sincere," said Garth at a Friday press conference in Los Angeles.

Will Garth be taking to the ice? Don't hold your breath.

"I'm not going to try and tell these guys that this is what I grew up on -- but they're cool to me," he said. "They give me a lot of grief about not being able to skate or play the game. But they're making it fun."

Uh-uh. Just don't come crying to us when you're crawling around on the ice looking for your teeth.
