I think this is not too bad at all :)

At least the sales are not too far from last week's.. this means that there are people who just had the time to get the album. I think the next 2 weeks are very critical. Sales usually go up in the two weeks..

I think you will probably see sales climb a little next week. He is really being thrown by the holiday albums. If it wasnt for the two holiday albums he would be sitting at #3 or #4. I think he can hang onto the top spot thru the end of the year on the country charts though. O Brother had great sales last week and I think that was because of Christmas!! Right now that is the only album that could possibly take the top spot away from him!!!

This CD is doing very well!!! It's not a big drop...definitely should make Garth proud. So many artists, especially those who have ten years plus under their belts, drop really quickly in sales...Scarecrow is not. :D

I guess I didn't help. I bought 2 copies of "Weathered." :( Sorry.

I don't think O Brother will catch Garth. Garth more than doubled O Brothers sales last week (240,000+ to 121,000+). Plus it has been out for a year and I think it has been selling a bit better than it would because of the CMA Awards. I think Garth has the legs to go a few more weeks. I think the Xmas sales will keep him at top and then AMA's will help. I did add two more copies this week myself and I need to buy a few more before Xmas. I also have to pick up a few xtra copies of The Magic of Xmas and the single. A couple of new friends are getting a Garth Gift set for Xmas. I am also giving copies of his first CD as gifts. It is close to the magic 10 million mark..I just want to help a bit. LOL. I am wondering when Garth will have his CDs certified by the RIAA. Except for Double Live in January, most of his CDs haven't been certified since 98/99 and he's released the 6 anniversary editions since then. Plus Scarecrow has shipped 3 million which means he is closing in on second again in sales. I don't think he will catch Beatles ever (163.5 Million) but Led Zepplin is at 105 Million and that is attainable. Garth is at 101 Million. Elvis is closing in on Garth..he's at 86.5 Million. Just thought I'd ramble a bit...:-)

Scarecrow has been certified 3x platnium. It has sold almost 1and a half million copies since its release. So that makes it at 104 million. I think we will be looking at 4 million by the beginning of the year. Also I agree about O Brother. This was the highest week for sales. It is Christmas, and they have been averaging about 70 to 80 thousand copies a week. I think Scarecrow has a good chance of possibly breaking maybe 8 or 9 million. Also I too wonder about certification for his other albums. Garth Brooks was at 9 million so it is very close to being album #5 to hit the diamond mark.

How can it be certified 3x platinum if it has only sold 1.4 million? 3x platinum is for 3 million sold.

I think it shipped 3 million PJ. :) But that does sound strange doesn't it?

I thought platinum records were based on units sold, not shipped.

But what a great Christmas gift would that be for Garth!!!

Platinum albums are based on units shipped not sold. Soundscan is based on units sold. RIAA certifications are based on units shipped to retailers, and soundscan bases on units actually sold. Scarecrow is certified 3xplatnium because 3 million units were shipped to retailers. It has actually sold 1.4 million units according to Soundscan. I know its confusing, I used to think RIAA were based on units sold too.
