Wow this will be killing the old pocketbook for me. I am a Madonna fan and a Garth fan. Sorta like Brian with Bruce..Bruce is number 3 on my all-time fave list. Madonna is releasing her second greatest hits package on Nov.13. Yikes. At least I only need a couple of her CDs versus the 14 I have to buy of Garth's. I wonder who will come out on top on Super Tuesday....

After hearing her cover of American Pie..................how quick can you say "no contest!!!"

We all have varied tastes and likes, but there is only one album I'll be buying anytime soon, and it won't be Madonna's ;)

Annette :) :)

Oh Oh! That could definitely hurt Garth. Madonna has a huge fan base, so boy I can hear the critics now if Garth does not come out on top. I pray he does and of course I will be buying Garth, but there are alot of Madonna fans and I wouldnt be surprised if she comes out on top. Crap why does she have to release on Nov. 13!!!!!

I'm buying Garth. Madonna can go bye bye.

I will buy Garth no doubt about that:D

I have to save money for Bruce's new LIVE double DVD as well:D:D Over 3 hours of music:D

Madonna IS IMO better now than 10 years ago, but her version of American Pie is really really really AWFUL:(

I Like the Madonna of the 80's, but the techno crap of her today just sucks especially American Pie. Madonna has a big fan base, yes, But remember Madonna has never sold over a million in one week, our Garth has and Garth has got almost twice the fan base as Madonna. I choose Garth.

Pilgrim... I think that Bruce is awesome, and I believe that he is more talented than the media has ever given him. He deserves a lot more than what he has accomplished.

Well, for me it's a no contest thought.

I'll be buying Garth. Madonna doesn't have a chance around my part of the country. ;)

Most definitely. But mainly it is his own fault as HE is the one who stepped back after "Born In The U.S.A." and made "Tunnel Of Love".
He was fed up with the big stardom BITU brought with it:o

Also they sai the reason he has never really had any badmouthing in the press is because he is honest. He LOVES to tell stories on stage, and they all has something to do with his life or what surround him:)

I agree Brian,

He is an consumatestoryteller, he creates wonderful visual pictures. One that sticks in my mind is one about the illegal mexican immigrants who work in houses that produce the drugs, often working with volitile and dangerous chemicals, for a very very small wage.
Often blowing themselves up, and whole pool of human misery.

He has a strong humanitarian streak, and he likes to alert his fans to the sometimes "hidden" misery that doesn't always lurk in some far off third world country, it is here among us every day, we just have to take the time to "see". He's pretty "in your face" about it, and has no qualms about taking you out of your comfort zones on issues that he see's are important.

I also like the fact that he goes on long rides on his Harley with his buddies, into New Mexico, and his stories of his trips are very interesting, and are usually about people.

Excellent post Annette:D:D

I totally agree:) And "Sinaloa Cowboys" is a very tough song. Really really sad:(

Miguel came from a small town in northern Mexico.
He came north with his brother Louis to California three years ago
They crossed at the river levee when Louis was just sixteen
And found work together in the fields of the San Joaquin

They left their homes and families
Their father said, "My sons one thing you will learn
For everything the north gives, it exacts a price in return."
They worked side by side in the orchards
From morning till the day was through

Doing the work the hueros wouldn't do.

Word was out some men in from Sinaloa were looking for some hands
Well deep in Fresno county there was a deserted chicken ranch
And there in a small tin shack on the edge of a ravine
Miguel and Louis stood cooking methamphetamine

You could spend a year in the orchards
Or make half as much in one ten-hour shift
Working for the men from Sinaloa
But if you slipped the hydriodic acid
Could burn right through your skin
They'd leave you spittin' up blood in the desert

If you breathed those fumes in

It was early one winter evening as Miguel stood watch outside
When the shack exploded lighting up the valley night
Miguel carried Louis' body over his shoulder down a swale
To the creekside and there in the tall grass Louis Rosales died

Miguel lifted Louis' body into his truck and then he drove
To where the morning sunlight fell on a eucalyptus grove
There in the dirt he dug up ten-thousand dollars all that they'd saved
Kissed his brothers lips and placed him in his grave

Madonna used to be okay. I dont like her anymore.

Garth gets my vote. :)

Garth is the MAN!.. Madonna is ok with her music but she can't hold a candle to Garth's music or popularity!

"Madonna, you ARE the weakest link, GOOD-BYE!"

Hehe. :) I agree with the Bruce comments. I saw him twice in concert in Toronto, in 1984. AMAZING preformances. Next to Garth's his were the best concerts I've ever been to.

Ellie :)
